Historical Traveler Reviews Rondel Village Negril

          The perfect place to stay

We stayed on the garden side. It was perfect. It was better than being at home. The all of staff, maids as well as the Chef and waitress were very professional. Even though we had trouble at the air port on the day we arrived. I was stressed. I explained to them what had happen.

I was suprised when the front office sent us a beautiful large fruit basket and a note card expressing that we have a pleasent stay. And WE DID. Thats why I recomend this location. We have stayed at 3 other resorts in Negril. This one I plan to return to as a second home as long as they have their doors open.

R and R at Rondel Village

If you're looking for a relaxing, intimate stay, this is "de place"! We stayed on the land side in a garden view room, which was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed watching the antics of the resident geckos from our porch chairs. The beautiful tropical trees and plants are lovingly tended by the staff. We also splashed in the little pool that is surrounded by the four buildings on the land side. The ocean side also features a lovely pool at the center of the villas. The inviting Irie Village restaurant and bar are set right on the beach. Good food and friendly staff! We took daily dips in the ocean and enjoyed sunsets, people-watching, and walks along the beach. Water sports such as parasailing and jet skiing can be arranged by talking with the bartenders. (We enjoyed parasailing so much that we went twice!) From what we could gather, most of the guests are from the States and Europe. While we were there, a wedding took place right on the premises. What a nice setting in which to be married! "Hi" and a special thanks to Janet, Stacy, Crazy, Jerome, Jimmy, and Nerissa for a memorable stay!

Rondel Village is Awesome November 14, 2003 Wedding

We were married at Rondel Village on Nov. 14, 2003. We stayed a total of 12 nights there. 13 of our guests stayed at Rondel Village also for different periods of time during our stay. I booked Rondel Village never seeing it first. Just took the word of many wonderful people on negril message board. Carolyn and the rest of the staff were very accommodating and good to us. The grounds are beautiful. The people are wonderful. The rooms are spacious and nice. We stayed in a 1 bedroom beachfront villa, which was awesome but even the rooms on the roadside were nice. The property had a slight problem the 2nd day we were there. We were without on and off for a couple of days on the beach side due to a water main breaking. But Carolyn took care of us and our guest by giving us some free nights for our trip this year. When you go to Negril you have to realize that the properties are not 5 Star like some people are used to any the states and that local people are on their own time. They are never in much of a hurry....but that is the beauty of it....and the people trying to sale you stuff are trying to make a leaving. A kind no thank you usually suffices. Rondel Village did an excellent job planning our wonderful wedding and those memories we will cherish a life time. I believe the property is great for groups, families or couples....It is a wonderful place and feels like home to me.

          Rondel Village

I selected excellent because for what Rondel Village is, they do an excellent job. Rondel Village is a fine place to vacation. My standards are snobbishly high and I found Rondel Village suited my family just fine for the type of vacation we were looking for this past April 2003.

It is quiet. But you should take the following into consideration.

          1. Rondel Village is cheap. It is not a luxurious hotel and doesn't pretend to be one. It is clean and spacious, on the beach and 2. Very kid friendly. If you are going to jamaica for a romantic getaway this may not be your best bet. Unless, you are going off season.

          3. We stayed in April and there were a lot of families. We chose Rondell village because of its location and the fact that it was newly refurnished.

Rondel Village reminded me of a rental house on the cape or a no frills hotel with kitchenettes, only with extremely different surroundings.

It's low priced, spacious, quiet, clean, and great location.

          GOOD TIME

I was there for a week and really enjoyed myself. The staff was very freindly and took good care of me. I met alot of people during my stay there. The resort was in easy access to everything. parties on the beach and even thought i did not go there was a disco across the road in walking distance. I was never bothered by anyone. Althought there where many parties on the beach the resort it self was very quiet. I'am making arrangements to return this coming March.

Finally came down from 11th trip...

Well our family is back to normal after a three week stay at

Rondel...whew what a wonderful experience. Next year we will be

returning (for three weeks again) and bringing 6 - 8 friends whose

parents are giving the trip to them as graduation presents. Yes, on our

I would like to address the issue of the negative review I saw posted briefly by saying, first time visitors should be prepared for the same issues we have in the states, "beach bums" ie " panhandlers", power outages, long waits in resturant lines, etc. I guarantee the owners will expeditiously support you on ANY compliant as they have for me during any of my past 11 stays.

          You my feel free to contact me at my email address above or It's a W O N D E R F U L place!

          Absolutely Loved It!

My husband and I spent two weeks - April/ May, 2003 at one of the beachfront villas. It was our third visit to Negril, the first two being spent at two other hotels. We toured Rondel on our last visit and just had to try it.

The villa, the beach, the staff, the restaurant & beach bar - and the private jacuzzi, simply cannot be beat.

We will be returning to our "new home" year after year. When you have found the best...there is no need to keep searching.

          Not returning!

This was the vacation from ****. Although the garden and pool were nice, the room was not up to our expectations. We didn't have hot water, towels had to be used for 3 days, and there were bugs in the room. The restaurant was suppose to open at 7:30 am and no one arrived until after 8:30 every morning. It took a while to get your food. The food was ok, but not a lot of choices because when you would order lobster, they didn't have it or shrimp, etc. When we would sit at the bar on the beach, the "beachbums" would come up to the bar and ask you to buy "stuff". The security guard didn't stop them. Matter of fact, he was partying and would turn his head. Very annoying and we won't be returning. This was our first trip and what a disaster.

          Longest returning visitor

My family has been enjoying the growth of Rondel since me and my wife stumble upon the place during a walk along the beach one year. We previously had visited Jamaica via the cruise ship trend and after visiting 14 islands decided to make Jamaica THE PLACE. We visited various parts of the Island, staying in villas, timeshares and hotels and decided VILLAS were ideal for our needs. We settled on Negril because we like to swim (without hazards). We stopped looking further because we found paradise - RONDEL.! In 1986 Rondel was just three villas with a simple staff wishing to become the best. I laugh when I remember the satellite T V system where everyone watched the same channel, and no telephones in the rooms. I watched the yearly upgrades and improvements, the quality of staff training, the changes to what it has become today and can say with qualification, it has gotten better with each visit. This June we will return for our 11th stay (we average three weeks each visit) and look forward to it. I have NEVER found anything wrong during my stays that wouldnt be corrected immediately if needed by simply telling the front desk what the problem was. Personally, I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS but then again, if youre in paradise, why would you?

          Great place

returning for my third time next month. great place for couples or families. great location super friendly staff and fabulous beach. locals at boat bar next door are sometimes a nuisance. ask for leon at white sands hotel for great tours.

... it was a few km from the village off which we anchored. The bay offered shelter from the rough sea, allowing Wendy to enjoy a big paddle in a kayak. Rick, Belly and Wendy took the dingy into the village and tied it up on a beach. They were immediately approached by a local rasta requesting payment to look after it. They managed to bargain him down from $20 to $3!!
