They do a free breakfast buffet (realy good food, not just bagels and sugar muffins topped by sugar pops.

The team at the resort is warm and friendly. They make sure that the kids are fine.

The look - it is older so it is comforatble, friendly and natural - surrounded by woods, river and golf course - their own. Good one, too, we have all had some good rounds - and the views are out of this world. Trees. Snow capped Mountain in the distance .

We walk to town on the river trail and get into the shops, and parks.

This winter we are doing skiing up at the mountain - just a 35 min drive.

We have looked at other solutions - renting a condo, going out to a huge complex caled sunriver but it looks oike its too "planned" for our life style and also too expensive.

We love Bend and love its life.

Any questions?

"Deschutes" Translation: From the falls

We decided to spend the night in Bend and found a place to stay online before we left our Hampton Inn. Stopped by Costco (again!) to gas up before we left town, then took highway 84 West past the Columbia River, Mt. Hood, and a huge re-planted forest from the Patterson exit. On 97 South we were on the Scenic Byway Journey Through Time. We passed …

This time around we stayed at a place called the Riverhouse Resort. It is just out of town. sits right OVER the river - you can …

Elise and I started out the day with a walk in the nearby dog park. Ubu was off lead and bounding all over the place, we looked up to see a HUGE deer crossing in the path of crazy man Ubu...after that we weren't sure who was chasing who and lost sight of both of them. We kept calling and whistling for Ubu, when we heard the jingle of his collar, only to see Ubu being chased by the HUGE deer (REALLY!). We got him over to us and the deer disappeared off the ...

We took an afternoon hike at Smith Rock State Park, it encompasses 651 acres on the Oregon High desert plateau which is around 3,000 feet in elevation. It was spectacular, Ubu had to stay on lead which was challenging but the drop offs were intense. We climbed up and over part of the ridge to ...

Just a short drive from town we entered the Deschutes National Forest where there are a million y trails to choose from. We took the Dillon Falls trail that wandered through a beautiful meadow/ forest area that ended up following the Deschutes River. The landscape it high desert with signs of recent forest fires. It's really nice because dogs can run free ...
