The drive to our Worldmark condo in Clear Lake was very beautiful. Rolling green hills with forests were everywhere. We arrived after traveling 17 miles of mountainous curves around 6 PM. We had already been on the road for six hours!
The resort is situated on Clear Lake, two and a half hours north of San Francisco. It is a Spanish Mission-style design. There was a pool, kiddie pool, a large hot tub and a dock/pier which you can walk out on the lake on.
Our condo was on the second floor of the building and had an upstairs master suite. Everything was clean and up-to-date. We had a tiny problem with ants showing up but just a couple. The grounds were well taken care of and the staff was very nice and helpful. I thought their idea to put cards with suggestions on what to do in the area by the staff was a good one. I wonder if they have a little competition with a prize to see whose suggestion cards get picked up the most.

Duncan drove us to the airport successfully. Marshall also flew out later in the afternoon to Chicago. We were hoping we wouldn't see him at either airport! Duncan told us Marshall got off okay.

Tuesday we woke up early and hit the road heading North to find California Redwoods. First, just outside Willet, we found a cute coffee shop called Pour Girls. They actually had a very tasty breakfast sandwich even after some confusion ordering about which combination included a biscuit! They had a clean bathroom, so I'll have to add this place to …
... s seat to be safe! It was a great way to spend the day! We stopped at the Point Arena Lighthouse and saw California seals lying on the rocks. The rocks are so interesting. They are striated with grooves from the constant surf and wind. One time when we got out of the car, we didn't even notice a big bull across the street from us OUTSIDE his fenced in area!
... and set out on this journey with an open mind, ready for whatever the culture had to offer. It indeed is a whole different culture. Some may call it a culture shock. In a way it is, but a welcoming one. The Italians definitely remain close to their traditions and culture, not wavering to the outward pressure of other countries. Remaining true to themselves. This is admirable and what gives Italy the attraction it has.
