Gorges Verdon... Route Napoleon

Gorgeous morning and a stunning place for breakfast awaited us just outside Scooby overlooking the lake. I went for a run but Kim was feeling a little under the weather so she stayed and made me breakfast - yay! We spotted two girls about our age and attempted to engage in some conversation but their English was limited and French is rubbish. Shame as its manily been the grey hair brigade we ...

John's Euro Car blog

Well, we are coming to the end of this fabulous trip of a lifetime and I have amassed a collection of interesting Euro car photos. Below is a quiz of 10 cars that need to identified. The one of you that reply with the most correct responses, in the least amount of time, will receive a bottle of the special new Chianti Classico that we are having shipped home. And trust me, this is not just some ordinary Italian ...

France: Ooh la la

... did laundry in Florence and Rome) treking across 8 countries, challenging ourselves every night to read a menu... we're looking forward to coming home soon.

But first we were in for a treat arriving in Cannes. We have landed at the famous Majestic Barriere Hotel, on la Croisette Blvd. Talk about culture shock! Remember, we've just come from either busy, historic, tourist-laden cities or sleepy waterfront villages in Italy. The moment we drove our dirty 335 into ...

Antibes and St-Tropez

Cannes is not as glamrous as we thought it would be, it still has all the fancy smancy stores along the beach, but there were definitely no red carpets rolled out when we were there. We did a day trip to St-Tropez, its was the end of a hge sailing competitiona and tons of ...

Honeymoon

... on this day as two fish thought we'd come up too close and started attacking us ! Hahaha, this was quite a moment which ended by us moving on and respecting their territory! Another great experience of this day was that before getting to this island, the ferry made a stop at Ile de Levant, nudist paradise. So people were all dressed and decent on the ferry, but the minute they got off, the clothes came off! The same went for the people boarding the boat... they had made it to the ...

Surprise

Woke up at the frightfully early time of 5:30am and showered and packed up in time to catch the 6:30 bus to the airport. We then changed buses to the one taking us to the train station in Venice. Then we got on a train at 7:50. It was a three and half hour train ride to Milan where we had a 10 minutes in which to buy lunch and find our next train. The final leg was almost 5 hours to the southern French town of Nice. We found our hotel, showered again, and then set off to surprise ...

Freaky Frenchy Frolic!

... hidden away all over the property and to top it all off a spectacular 20 room mansion with all the opulence and attention to detail you would expect on an episode of lifestyles of the rich and famous! We slept in the attic which was bigger than an average house and awoke to discover just what a fine predicament we had landed ourselves in! May 4th So a day on the French Riveria, well we knew this before going but it was quite a rocky beach and really too cold to do any sunbathing, but we did stick our feet in the water and relax a bit on great sidewalk benches facing the water. We explored the town of Nice, walked through markets and climbed up Castle Hill which offered great views of the city and the beach.
