Most Everything at the Renaissance was great
I just returned from a 4-day stay at the Renaissance Esmerelda Resort and Spa. There were 8 of us traveling together and the hotel was able to accommodate us and place everyone on the same floor in the same area. We were on the 7th floor and had a wonderful view of the pool. The rooms were very nice, especially the beds. The front desk staff was great and so were the valet and bellhops. The first night we ate at The Chop House and found it very good, but pricey (about $100 per person). The second night we asked the concierge to help us find a more moderately priced restaurant. She acted as if we were bothering her and sent us to the Cliffhouse, which ended up being a disappointment and still about $90 per person. The final night we ate at the Yard House and it was great and more moderately priced. The pool area is great and large enough to allow kids to play and not to bother those wanting more peace and quiet. There are lots of chairs at the pool and you are able to order food and drinks from the friendly staff.I also went to the spa and found it to be wonderful. I had a facial and it was the best I've ever had. The person who did the facial was Kelly and she did a great job and was really friendly. All in all it was a great trip, with the exception of the concierge who seemed a little disinterested in really helping us select a place to dine. Other than that the staff and facility were excellent.
The perfect place to stay for a great getaway!
during my week stay at Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa, i was so happy with all the amenities it had to offer. the pool (my personal favorite), which has a beach, a swimup barm waterfalls and much more, is great to either relax or play. both children, teens and adults alike will enjoy this hotel. kids dine free in one of the hotel's restaurants which is a plus! The rooms are offered for a great rate and are modern in style. the staff is very friendly and will comply with whatever needs you may have. the spa, from experience, is beautiful and offers the ultimate in relaxation. my family and i had absolutely no problems during our stay at this hotel. i would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone in the area!
Some people do not belong behind the concierge desk...
The Renaissance Esmeralda is a beautiful resort with EXCELLENT front desk, valet, and bell service. The pool area is great for both couples and families, and the driving range is adequate. I have stayed here on multiple occasions, and the various rooms have always been updated, clean, and elegant. If you want to feel as if you're on a tropical vacation, pay for the upgrade and stay in a pool view room on the higher floors. The room not only overlooks the palm-fringed sandy beach/pool, but also the Santa Rosa mountains. Quite gorgeous! One main complaint- the last time I was there, one particular concergiere person, Beverly-the-Concerierge-Lady, was incredibly rude and even yelled at some of the guests. Even when she was not busy, she acted as if we were bothering her simply for stopping by for a dining brochure. This experience was so terrible that we almost left the hotel. Management needs to ensure that the concierge service (which had received awards in previous years) remains professional and customer-oriented.
Loved, loved, LOVED this hotel - it was a perfect experience from start to finish. Staff was congenial and wonderful from the booking of the room to checkout. Rates were unbelievable, especially considering the amenities - AND the fact that we stayed over a holiday weekend.
Beautiful lobbies, grand pianos guests are invited to play, wonderful restaurants. Beautiful, beautiful decor throughout, and the pond outside one of the restaurants [can't think of the name, but it has live music on weekends and provides a relaxed nightclub-esque environment] is a fabulous touch. (Go in around dusk, order a drink, and select a table by the window.) Food, drink, room service - all wonderful, all reasonably priced [i.e., no more expensive than anywhere else]. The only negative things I could possibly say about this hotel are: the pools weren't quite as large as you're led to believe from the website, but rgardless, they are still attractively laid out and they're certainly better than any hotel pools I've seen outside Vegas.
Expect to hike a bit if you don't valet, but then, once you get inside, you don't mind the parking at all. The hotel is entirely self-contained; there's almost no reason to leave the hotel at all once you're there. Bonus: if you're interested at all in national parks, there are two within an hour of the property. We visited both the Salton Sea and Joshua Tree during one day of our four-day stay. I can't speak to the golf course, but I'd recommend the hotel itself to anyone.
Sun and Fun
Stayed at the Esmeralda with the wife for two nights in late June 2003.
Very nice place, golf is convenient next to the resort and was included in my package. The pool is great, they have service with pretty good food and the pool itself is massive and has a pool bar and a sandy beach at one end. Only complaint would be too many kids, suggested hotel designate one of the smaller pools for adults only.
Rooms were great, we happened to get upgraded an enjoyed a tremendous suite, but our first room was terrific also. Business center for work items and Cafe Biscotti for coffee and pastries was great, room service was fast and delicious. We loved the Esmeralda and the service and plan on staying here again very soon. I highly recommend it, and I am picky.
Nice relaxing choice
I stayed here one night June 2003. Its a very comfortable hotel, with great quiet rooms, small balconies, a great pool area, and great service. Its a good place to stay even during the heat (it was 105 when I was there) with great room air conditioning and a wonderful pool area. Park for free in the lot or pay $15 for valet parking. Its located right on a golf course, back from Highway 111 a little. Better location than the Miramonte (i.e. back from street). About a half hour drive to Palm Springs (late in the evening), longer at rush hour.
Great hotel to relax
we stayed at the esmeralda resort for a three day stay, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was beautiful, we went to the estrella lounge bar in the evenings where the band entertainment was great, we had a ball, the pools were nice , with a bar, and food service was available, we ate breakfast at the charisma restaurant , but did not think it was that great for the price, $12.95, but all in all we had a wonderful time and will definetly return.
Best service staff rooms
Stayed at the esmeralda april 2002 (5 days), I just want to say this resort is very much a Princess in the desert. We are a middle class family who at first felt a little in over our heads as we entered the lobby, but from the instant the doorman welcomed us in until the second we unfortunately walked out the doors for the last time it was the most incredible stay we had ever had. I am a golfer and the courses are right there just a 3 minute walk to the clubhouse, if the staff sees you walking they pick you up in an oversize golf cart or you can just request it in the lobby. The wife and kids were more than happy to just chill out by the pool (has a sandy beach) without even a look back at me when I left to go golfing, VERY RARE! Every morning we ate a breakfast at the regular restaurant, buffet style for breakfast and every night dined at one of the local restaurants. Afterwards, after the sun had gone down we shared time together in one of the two hottubs. There were kids but not too many of them, just enough for our kids to make one or two friends, so this would be a great place for a romantic getaway also. Obviously we loved this place and can't wait to go back next April.
A great place to get-away!
My husband and I stayed at the Renaissance Esmeralda this past weekend mainly because we wanted to get away from Los Angeles for the night and relax by the pool. We stayed for just one night (Saturday, May 17th) and I was disappointed to leave after only one day. The resort exceeded my expectations. The decor clean and simple, the rooms, spacious and clean, the beds soft and comfortable. The pool area is very nice, with a "sandy beach" off to one side. We highly recommend making use of the rafts the hotel provides and sun bathe in the pool. With the 100 degree plus weather, you don't even feel it when you are half submerged in the water. The hotel is very family oriented; therefore, the pool is not a place for peace and quiet. There are A LOT of kids running about, which is great for families, but if you are looking for a peaceful, romantic get-away, you may want to look elsewhere. This is not to say that we did not come back relaxed and refreshed. The poolside food was good, the poolside drinks, even better. Poolside service is a little slow, but we were not really in a rush anyway. The staff at the Renaissance was wonderful. Everyone was so helpful and truly bent over backwards for us. The fitness facility is great! Very clean, well-equipped, and the treadmills all have a personal t.v. so you can watch whatever you want while you workout. And there is no fee to use the fitness center. Also, there is no fee to park. Our stay was easy, simple, relaxing. We will be back very soon!
Perfect Service, Great Value
We stayed at the Esmeralda from Dec 22, 2002 until Jan 3, 2003. The hotel was undergoing some renovations. The main pool was open, as were the hot tubs. The kids loved the sand beach at the pool. They had just opened a brand new convention center (we were on vacation so we didn't check it out) and a new workout room (very nice, plenty of all new equipment!!!) Their main resturant the Sirocco, reopened on December 20th. The resturant was beautiful and well appointed. The staff professional and attentitive. The food was marvelous! Charisma, their standard resturaunt was O.K., with a nice breakfast buffet and a very good $9.95 early bird dinner special which includes dessert!
The rooms were spacious and clean, but the plumbing fixtures needed some attention. (Drippy faucet and low pressure old showerhead!!) Most of all, I've never seen a more professional, friendly, and helpful staff at a resort anywhere! We will definately go again!!!

The Steak house was as good as always but extremely busy so I would say it is better to book in advance if you can as we had to wait 40 minutes for a table!

After a few hours we went back to our room and popped out to grab some dinner. When we returned we had a look at the shop on site and wandered around the hotel. As we got back to our room we realised our air conditioning was not working! After waiting around a bit to see if it was us being ...
