Well apologies travel readers your journalist had a couple days off, will make sure his pay gets docked 30 baht. The front page story of the Malay newspaper on the flight from SG to KL showed three Police Officers. They were all ladies wearing hijabs, sporting full Police body armour with large machine guns. A couple of reasons, they were on an …

At lunch there was a notable absence of anything spicy. Instead we were offered grilled pork and chips (as well as rice, noodles, salad and fruit). I was starting to get to know the other volunteers by now. They were all youngsters, mostly from the UK, and included a young lady from Newcastle who spent her summers working as a dancer in Ibiza, a girl from Bury, near Manchester, who was just starting out ...
... teachers reappeared from their meeting and had us pose for photos with the classes. What a good afternoon. By contrast the children at the orphanage were a little subdued but one or two of them excelled as usual.
Thursday morning saw us at Fai Tha School once more for three classes. The children are always pleased to see us and looked angelic as they marched off the playing field and into school accompanied by the school band The first and ...
As usual I had a very pleasant weekend.
I decided against joining the youngsters on Friday night. They were all off to the Happy Snapper club (or as Sunny, Ken‘s Thai assistant, calls it the Snappy Happer). Victor the Venezuelan musician had returned unexpectedly, for another week of teaching, and was going to be playing there. I chatted to him for a while before they left for the club, and we talked about the recent news of the murder in Venezuela ...

It was jungle trek time so we went out in the Longtail boat down the route I had just been in the kayak and then we got out at the side of the lake to go into the forest. It was slippery under foot and we had to cross about 5 rivers. Now our ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Ramada Resort Khao Lak
Last april I stayed at Ramada resort for 3 weeks. My first impression when I arrived was: a beautiful and quiet resort. Very friendly reception, helpful staff, lovely rooms with special kingsize beds. Everything in the room was well thought-out and nicely designed.
Arriving in a brand new resort, with a appealing modern style we enjoyed every second.
The rooms are big, a nice plasma tv, good assortement in the minibar. The pool is amazing and everything is very spacious and wide spread. Breakfast perfect and excellent service, same as during lunch.
We regret that we only stayed one night, but definitely return again to try the spa and the rest of the facilities. Good work Ramada Team!
Getting back to the Ramada felt like coming home for my wife and I. They remembered our names and even though it had been several months, they remembered what I liked, so my beers were ice cold every time I sat down at the bar and my the therapists at the spa knew that I needed some serious work done on my shoulders.
Stayed at the Ramada for 7 nights from 6 March 2007 in Deluxe Lanai Ocean View room. We were very disappointed to find that many of the facilities and services mentioned in various websites (including Ramada's own) simply did not exist. For example, there is no gym/fitness room, shop, beach facilities/water sports, kids club or coffee shop. While these are in still in the construction phase, there appears no urgency or will to actually provide them. It would appear to us that the intention is to have the hotel completely open for next high season.
We stayed here for 6 nights in a Deluxe Lanai Ocean View room.
Lovelly hotel and staff are very friendly. Spa was great and was cheap due to 50% discount. Not much around hotel but you dont need it. Would recommend hotel.
We stayed 2 nights in the Ramada at Khao Lak in one of their Deluxe Lanai Ocean View rooms. We got a great price on Wotif and we knew it was an 'Opening Special Rate' so guessed it wouldn't be all together.
