We stayed two nights and really enjoyed this resort. The pools were fun and the kids enjoyed the waterfall. The property is beautiful with lush landscaping. The outdoor BBQ was very good and the beach was beautiful.
I recommend this place especially for families.
Expensive, Poor service
Stayed at the Ramada Beach Resort last weekend. Upgraded to a suite when we checked in and was very disappointed with the rooms. Very small for 270.00 a night. The staff was unfriendly acting as if they were doing you a favor upgrading you to a larger room, no discount here. The front desk only activated our key for 2 days and we were locked out of our room , when I informed the desk, they told me I would have to come to the lobby to get them reactivated. I told them they should come and give me new keys. They never came. The housekeeper let us in. Even after all of this, I complained and the staff acted like it was our fault. (Because we upgraded our room at the last minute.) The pool with the waterfall and bar was nice, but the bar closed at 6pm. The beach was nice. Loved Fort Walton and Destin but will stay at another hotel when I return.
Ramada Plaza Beach Resort
We arrived on a Monday afternoon, July 7th and stayed through Saturday, July 12th. We had stayed before many years prior and it wasn't as nice as we remembered but it had it's strong points. I will start with those. The beds were very comfortable. We had nice firm mattresses which induced great sleep. Even though the hotel was full, it wasn't very noisy as one would imagine. Considering we had our two children with us, the micro fridge was wonderful! It wasn't your run of the mill fridge either. It had plenty of room to be considered "micro"! The room had plenty of storage for a family of four to put away everything we brought. That was great! The housekeeping staff was very friendly especially one lady who, when making the beds, placed my girls stuff animals on the beds a top their pillows. I thought that was sweet! One thing I can say for certain...THE AIR CONDITIONER WORKS! We had to turn it off (kept on low) several times because we were freezing. Now, for the low points. The pool area by the grotto bar was very crowded during the weekdays. Some would lay their beach towels out at 6:30am to hold a spot and then not return until very "late" in the day. We thought this was very rude and it seemed it went unnoticed by the staff. The housekeeping staff was friendly but, it seems if you are there more than a night or two, you almost have to ask to have your room cleaned.
I had to ration towels, coffee etc before we figured this out. Our balcony was always dirty (sand)! It seemed "when" they did come we just happened to be returning from the pool or beach and had to wait on the balcony for them to finish. One day, the lady didn't even make the beds. She just vacuumed, left towels and disappeared. We ended up having to visit the local Publix down the street to buy coffee, sugar substitute & milk. But in their defense, we are coffeeholics and drink coffee like most people drink soft drinks. Some of the staff may have been lacking with detail but they always seemed very friendly. The ice machine on our floor was broken the entire time we were there. We had to visit the floor above or below us to get ice. That wasn't very convenient. The hotel needed a bit of updating as far as the decor.
But, the grounds were very beautiful. I watched many early mornings from the balcony as the young men worked very hard to get things in tip top shape before the pool opened. We were in short walking distance from many things for those who want to keep that "coveted" parking place. The pier, the boardwalk w/restaurants and restaurant on premises not to mention the water park and opportunity to bungee jump across the street. I have to give this an average rating because there wasn't really anything that stood out that wasn't knocked off by something else. We might stay here again in the future but it will be after looking for something else that might be better. Hope this helps some of you make a decision.
We stayed at the Ramada Inn Plaza Resort in April of this year and we loved it so much we are going back in August and taking our grandkids.
I would highly recommend this resort to anyone who wants quality at a very nice resort.
I loved the Ramada Plaza Beach Resort. So many things to do, so little time to do them. Me and my girlfriend found the walks down the beach so romantic and the hot tub was nice too!We definatly made our mark in Ft. Walton Beach and plan on coming back there next summer to get married in the hot tub and have the reception at the Grotto Bar!! All is welcome to come.
We recently stayed at the Ramada Resort (6/16/03 - 06/21/03). It was the first of many Ramada stays in two weeks. Although the weather did not cooperate, we found the hotel to be in the perfect place. It is right next door to the Boardwalk, which houses the Crap Trap Restaurant (wonderful), a night club, ice cream shop, etc. The gardens at the hotel was the best part. When we opened our door in the morning, all we saw was beautiful foliage and the sound of streaming water. It was great to have a choice of two pools. We would definitely stay there again.
I loved the resort.
I loved the Resort. It was so nice that we hardly ever left the resort on our three day vacation. They have tons to do... they have two swimming pools, ocean, two or three restaurants(can't remember),Bar, and a water park across the street from the resort. I am now going there every summer now and i would encourage you to go as well.
We stayed at the Beach Plaza Resort in April 2003. The pool area/courtyard was very nice. The heated pool was a necessity since the temperatures dropped during our visit. The waterfall pool is not heated so we were unable to try it out but I am sure it is a big hit during warmer months. The room was average but the staff was very friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Good location and beautiful beaches.
I loved it; friendly employees, beautiful beaches, convenient location
I stayed here for the past 3 summers. My husband loves the convenience to the fishing pier. My daughter and I love the beautiful beaches. The employees were helpful and friendly. The facilities were in excellent condition. I would stay there again this summer if my budget could afford it (no vacation this summer for our family).

We woke up early to enjoy the beach and hoped to see dolphins but no luck. The beach was stunning though. We had breakfast and packed up to leave. They gave us a CD on check out from the Inn of romantic beach music! Such a nice touch. I was sad to leave. It was so nice there.
We ended up with a 7 hour drive plus the hour that ...
... one of them took a nibble. But they are harmless. We also noticed there are no shells here. It is almost remarkable. I don’t know that I have ever experienced a beach with literally no shells.
For dinner we went to Camille’s which is literally 2 stop signs down the road. They had sushi and it was amazing. Plus it was special sushi night tonight ($6 rolls) so we ate up! They also had the most wonderful bread pudding. ...
... everything. I had to throw out mostly all the food. Thankfully they did not go for the chocolate for some reason but ravaged the bread and an entire large jar of peanut butter!! They were all over the bag and we tried washing it in the shower but they were still all over it so I scrubbed every inch of it in the sink and we were able to salvage that. I had to call the desk and tell them we would be late checking out due ...
