... tomo bound for Phuket, then a fight back to Bangkok. From there we will sort out our visas for Vietnam as we have booked another Gap Adventures tour there, starting in Hanoi and heading south.

We chilled at the private beach until we were kicked out (which lasted around half an hour) and headed back into town. Not a bad first day.

... that at least!!) we then travelled down to Ao-Nang which is the beachy part of Krabi (the main town on the west coast of Thailand). There we commenced in more sunbathing and swimming with the odd bit of shopping and stolling inbetween. here however the weather was a little different. as the afternoon rolled in so did the clouds. and with them came the thunder and rain, and this is not just any rain... this is rain beyond rain. it ...

... dared to get that close, because we saw a few monkey scraps (or simian set-tos). We went to two more bays, the last being Maya Bay (the actual setting for 'The Beach'). The beach was beautiful but because the cliffs are so high either side, we seemed to be vigorously chased across the beach by the shade. I have done loads of snorkelling and seen some brilliantly coloured fish (and also been bitten by one).

Most of yesterday was spent hanging around the place where we were staying. Rachel started to feel a lot better in the evening so we went into town for some dinner. We found a nice little Mexican place and it was delicious! Still haven't had anything that beats the Indian on Penang though. After dinner we did a bit of a pub crawl to see if the night life had anything to offer. We eventually stumbled upon a beach bar which turned out to be holding a Half ...

... has been marketed and overwhelmed with hotels and all that lot. Oh and the ferry port has to be seen to be believed, millions of people jumping on and off the jetty onto waiting ferries day and night. - If you hire a moto driver there are some proper quality beaches around the island, but this is a right do as they can charge what they want and end up taking the **** somewhat, as if you dont pay the price they want ...
