... and finished that in quick time. Thereafter we each had a porky, or at least that what I call them. A porky is a flat piece of pork on a stick, probably the size of a smallish hamburger patty, barbecued over red hot coals. I so love my porky’s. We also had a coconut ice-cream with peanuts, man that stuff is great. Then we moved on over to a fishy stand and ordered a Japanese snack called Takoyaki, or octopus balls. As we didn't have dinner, we decided to stop off at Burger King on the way home to round off my birthday! How romantic. I'm probably doing Ko Samui a disservice because for every seedy bar there's an upmarket restaurant or amazing looking beach resort. There is something for everyone here and there is just as many older people enjoying a ...

... like one of those Thomas Cook ads where the careworn slob is teleported into a paradise of unimaginable luxury.

I know it is low season, but Wazzah is almost supernaturally quiet and we have the place to ourselves. When I ask Leo, the French owner, who else is checking in this week, he just shrugs and says he thinks someone else is coming this week but he can't be sure. This is one thing you would expect Leo to be on top of, as he seems to have a whole ...

For my last night in Thailand, Ange and I headed out to the town of Chewegan. We took a truck taxi there, which are quite easy to catch. The flatbed of the truck is fitted with seats and a bell to ring once you want ...
