Historical Traveler Reviews Put-in-Bay Resort Hotel and Conference Center Put in Bay
Worst place I have ever been. Hotel and rooms are very nice. Staff is unfriendly, there is no bar as stated, and unless you are from ohio they will find a way to screw you. There are other hotels on the island much better and even houses for rent that are perfect for families or groups. The reviews on here that say this hotel is great are from the owner, so don't be fooled.
We stayed at PIB resort for Memorial Day weekend and had a very good time. Plenty of people to mingle with at the pool and hot tub, everything was extremely clean. The built in bar was not complete yet, but will be a great edition to next year's trip. We had a guide named Barb, who showed us the ropes for a night (we have never been here before). We thought she was hired by the hotel as a guide, but was actually just a regular to the PIB Island (just goes to show how friendly everyone is). She knew her way around quite well and needless to say Barb now has a spot in our hearts along with PIB Resort. We are looking forward to next year.
Did they even want us there???
Rooms are new and fairly nice, but lots of noise from other rooms. Hot tub was great! I did not find the staff to be particularly friendly or welcoming...I felt more like a suspicious intruder than a welcomed guest.
Fantastic Place to Stay
This is the most fantastic place on the island to stay bar none. Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff is friendly and curtious. I highly recommend this hotel and it's one of the best in Ohio and definately the best at the Bay as we call it. The Hot Tub, Pool and Swim up bar are out of this world. So if you are going to the Bay and want a wonderful place to stay the Resort is it. Nice that it's only a block off the strip, so you can get away from it if you like and if you've been to the Bay you understand that that's a needed option occasionally. My friends and I throughly enjoyed ourselves. Try it you'll love the resort.
Great people, great times, and a beautiful pool!!!! We had a simply fantastic time and the staff was so very friendly!!! We are hooked! The island is treasure and we will be back!
A Memorable Weekend
We love coming to the Bay, but were unprepared to stay overnight and were in dire need of a room for the night. We went to the front desk and 2 lovely girls took care of us and found one room available. I believe one of those girls was Ally. She was very sweet and accomodating to us. The room was not quite ready yet, as it was still early morning, and the former guests had not checked out yet. Ally took my mobile phone number and said she would call me wherever I was on the island to let me know that the cleaning service had completed getting the room ready. I have never experienced such kind and courteous service before! Also, when we returned, I met Kelly at the front desk and her young and very polite son, Dallas. They were so very welcoming, making sure everything was ready for us! All the staff, from what I noticed, were busy, busy, busy...making the PIB Resort a clean and refreshing place to stay! Whether it be vacumming, cleaning rooms, maintaining the pool and the grounds, or just simply opening the door for you....excellent service!!!! You made our unexpected stay a time to remember!! We plan to use the PIB Resort as our home every time we come to the Bay!!!! Thank you all!!!
I stayed in Put-In-Bay last week at the Put-In-Bay Resort and Conference Center and I have to say I was disappointed. Most of the staff didn't smile, never acknowledged us when walking in the lobby. After seeing their supervisor and how she treated employees I can see why. She too, never acknowledged guests, sighed whenever someone asked her a question, and the worst part is she yelled at her staff right in front of guests about people not being on time for her meeting and that she was tired of all the complaints. And like another reviewer said, the pool is RIGHT next to a house and most of the rooms have a view of a little sewage plant. We checked out other hotels and will definitely stay at another place next time.
What a great place!!
What can I say? Have stayed @ several places @ the Bay, but was really very happy with the PIB resort! Outstanding service, clean rooms, and the thing that I really look for is customer service. Your staff went way above that. NICE job! I will be staying here when I return to the island in few weeks....Much success to you!
Excellent vacation stay
Had a great time at this resort. The staff reached beyond any expectations we had set. We will be returning again next year for a repeat visit. If someone had a bad stay here it was most likely their own fault.
Don't Waste your Money
Don't waste your money on this place. Read the previous trip report it it is obvious the people did not pay for the room. Half the rooms overlook a nearby sewage treatment plant, the other half overlook a small pool and jacuzzi area that is in the shade most of the day. The pool area is completely cobbled together with the front yard of a house next door used as part of it. When we called we were lead to believe this was "the" place to stay on Put-in-Bay and it couldn't have been farther from the truth. I was also lead to believe there were no other quality places to stay on the island. There are several and I would advise everyone to look elsewhere. We attempted to get our money back and got into a huge arguement with a guy that we believe was the owner, but not sure. Basically we were told that no refunds would be forthcoming and we had no choice.

We have been planning this vacation/trip since we purchased our "new to us" motorhome. It has been 25 years since we visited some of the national parks out west and with the cameras we now own we thought it would be fun to revisit some parks we have been to before and add some new ones to our itinerary.
We started out this morning and almost immediately returned home for forgotten items. Then finally hit the road about 8:30 am. A quick stop ...
