Islands and Little Red Frogs

... Bocas and we've spent a lot of time moseying around town, soaking up the slow-paced island life. Mom's nearly recovered from her cold and I finally succumbed to it yesterday so we've really slowed down our pace. Friday we took a lancha trip to Bastimentos Isand and spent the day on Red Frog Beach. It felt like being on a deserted island - the only sounds we heard were waves crashing into the shore and cicadas in the jungle behind us. Mom napped on the beach while I body ...

... some fish (Hemant made a spear...out of wood...damp wood...with his swiss army knife...which he tried his best not to get dirty...). so 3 green premature coconuts with ample juice later, we decided to play games. first game consisted of throwing one coconut in the air then throwing the next and trying to collide them in mid-air. second, a variation of the first, throwing all 3 coconuts in the air simultaneously and attempted to collide them. Ok, we were bored and ...

Chilling and chatting with new friends at the beach was mostly waht occred as well as searching for star fish in the water. I got a bit burned today. It hurts to be sitting here. Again, it serves me right and I deserve no sympathy. Tomorrow, we head back to Costa Rica for more beach in Puerto Viejo. Here's hoping its sunny!

... and it is a cool place to explore if you have time. Diving is cheap here. I didn´t have time but I came here for the language school. I met some nice people who I will keep in touch with but am ready to leave. I think I was the oldest person at the school but not by much as Suzanne from Germany was 42. Future adventures include working on a boat going through the Panama Canal and sailing down to Colombia.

LIVING in Panama.

... going about a metre before I was hands down in the gravel with the large red fire ants that carry leaves to and from their nests. For reasons unknown, on this same ride, Silvia joked that if her bike was stolen at least she had a good last day with it. That night, Silvia's bike was stolen from outside our house. But I think I saw it a few nights ago, a 20-something guy was cruising around on it before disappearing into the dark down a side street. I let him go. Karma's a *****.

... with the blonde guy?" asks American girl. We look up from our knitting/book/joint, "Yeah, why?" "Oh, cause he's passed out at the top of the stairs". Ah no, Frederik's had too much alcohol, we all agree, and pull ourselves out of our hammocks and corners to go retrieve our ****** friend. But at the top of the stairs we instead found the forementioned Steve - our well-travelled friend, lying in foetal position, his face ruby red and his eyelids condensed milk white ...

So here we are, in "Paradise"

... up from my hammock to see them running back in, drenched and sad, shaking their heads... it seemed like we were all stuck here for a while. Much pleasure was had in the kitchen though, with meal after lovely meal, vegetarian and local inspired, created and enjoyed. I became highly impressed at the creativity of using the same ingredients and spices each time in different ways and each time creating a unique and tasty feed. Steve's sauteed veges. Alex Rasta's soy meat and ...

An idle, yet eventful, day in Panama City

... caribbean and spanish looking folk around us ate large portions of meat that had been deep-fried (like most of the cuisine in central america). Back aboard the bus of cold death, we travelled the last leg of the journey winding through the darkness until grey light started to silhouette the trees. About 2 hours before we reached Almirante Port, where we would catch a boat to Bocas del Toro... the rain started. (will post photos soon)

... I was pleasantly surprised to find a 90-day visa stamp on my passport. Maybe it was a mistake, maybe not. For now, I´ll just enjoy my time in Costa Rica.
