even want to do away with them, they do train you to feel somewhat in control.
We assume that we know what is going to happen, because there is a rule somewhere,

... I'm not saying that if I had gotten in the water and gone snorkeling I would have brought someone to Christ, but I could have grown closer to my family.
Yesterday we rented stand-up paddle boards and snorkel gear. I was so happy that we got to go paddle boarding but was pretty much dreading the snorkeling. I had told my family that because I have a GoPro I would get in the water and snorkel. On the way to the reef we made one stop to look at ...
In my first post I shared about what a low point I had reached and how I realized that if
nothing else came of this trip (though I know it is even if I can't see it),
then at least I am learning to obey. The part I have not gotten around to
sharing is the moment after I came to this realization. So last Sunday we
attended New Life Church in Sosua, about a 30 minute ride from where we were staying.

After a guagua ride back home, we had time to shower and change before a relaxing happy hour at the Lazy Dog Beach Bar & Grill!

Being homesick hasn’t really hit me until now, but since I’ll be home soon it’s getting tougher, because they are all so close. I can’t wait to walk off that plane Saturday night and run into the arms of my parents and Harshil. As soon as I see them I’m going to sprint. I miss everything about home, the smell, my bed, hot ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Puerto Plata Village Resort and Spa
What an amazing Holiday
Myself and 3 friends just returned from PPV on Saturday February 28 and what an amazing time we had. The hotel staff was great, the food delicious, the entertainment exciting and the Resort was beautiful. I would have to recommend this resort to anyone, it was such a great place. If you are interested in a day trip, book it on the beach with Ramone, it is much cheaper and it's the exact same as the hotel. Do the Jeep Safari, and Paradise Island. If you want to get your hair braided do it in the salon at the resort, it is actually much cheaper than at the beach. I will definately be going back to this resort, it was such a great time.
back in march 2003 i traveled to puerto plata village for the first time.the resort was lovely, the food was excellent, and we made a lot of new friends while we were there.we liked it so much we went back this year for two weeks.we were there from jan.24 to feb07 and this time there was a group of 25 that went.there was not one negative remark about the resort from anyone.one evening the managment closed the international al a carte for reservations because they had aspecial meal for returning guests.the main course was chicken breast stuffed with broccoli and cheese, and baby lobster.there were over 150 repeat guests.another day they had a special breakfast for repeat guests at the beach.it was also excellent. when i read some of the negative reviews, i wounder what kind of people they are, and if any vacation anywhere would be good enough for them.i think they are cronic complainers. i would like to say hello to everyone at puerto plata village from larry, lucy mark, laurie, andre,& diane.we all hope to see everyone again next year sometime between jan. and march your truly larry butler & lucy graham
After reading some of the other reviews, I felt compelled to share my own experience. I only stayed at the hotel for 2 consecutive friday nights as I was going on a catamaran for the week to swim with humpback whales. The hotel was recommended to us by our boat so I didn't look into any other options but was happy with their choice. Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to sample the ala carte restaurants since it was such a short stay. I did find the quality of the food at the buffet restaurant quite good. They served a large variety of breads and the meat was tasty as were the many side dishes. The pizza at the snack bar was also high quality with a variety of toppings and always available. My bar drinks were great as well. Nothing too sweet and syrupy like some tropically inspired drinks can't be. The cuba libre was fantastic. And for the days I was there, there always was a bartender present at the pool bar.
Dont ever go there
It was the no tell motel the pool was closed at 6 oclock the beach you couldnt go to after 7 oclock it was terrible
The Best Vacation of My Life
I went to Puerto Plata Village Resort And Spa on August 25,2003. I have to say it was the best place on earth the people were so friendly and helpful. The pool was very clean and the swim up bar was great. The beach is beautiful even though it's 5 miniutes away it's a nice walk.I really will be coming back here I have made it a point to come every year for atleast a week.
On the 11th of October 2003, myself, my wife and two children set out on what we thought was going to be a dream holiday, at the Puerto Plata Village in the Dominican Republic. (How Wrong We Were). It was absolutly awful, Please dont get me wrong i am not one of those old men who nit picks at everyone and everything because i dont, i am only in my 30's. What me and my family thought was going to be a peacefull relaxing holiday was'nt, it was loud during the daytime with the so called entertainment team trying to get you up to play games or do some sort of pool aerobics, the massive speakers were blasting out all types of music all day from 8.30am. If you were a young couple it would probably be brilliant for you, but certainly not for families or older people. It says in the brochure it has a swim up bar it has the only problem is that in the two weeks that we never saw a barman behind it.
When I went to the Dominican Republic in Feb 2001 I didn't know much about it. Still I was going there to get married! It was spooky I tell you. But I soon found out there was nothing to worry about. Both me and my husband loved staying at the Puerto Plata Village. The houses are lovely, all situated like a small village. The pool area was nice and although the beach was a few minutes walk away, we didn't think much of it. We went down there every day, enjoying a superb lunch at the beach restaurant and sometimes spend hours walking along the neverending beach. As for the rest of the restaurants we found them very nice. We were a bit worried about getting the same food since it was All-included, but since there were several places to chose from, we worried for nothing. The Buffé-restaurant had different theme for every night. We had a great wedding dinner at the Italian place and at least two meals at the Mexican. We stayed in a room with balcony which was ok. The view wasn't great, but it was overlooking a mountain so we couldn't really complain about that. As for getting married there, I can definately recommend it. They had all our needs wrapped in a nice package so we didn't miss a thing, except perhaps our familly and friends. I have recommended the Puerto Plata Village hotel to several of our friends and collegues since we got back. I'm almost certain we will go there again sometime and I can also recommend it to famillies. All the children I saw there seemed to enjoy themself alot. And since all the drinks, burgers and pizzas were All-included one didn't have to think about carrying around money. Hope you will enjoy your stay as much as we did!
