... were required to detour around a MOA which turned out to be an Army Air Force Base! The Kansas River came into view – we were heading for Philip Billard Municipal airport just off to the north of the River and here the camera battery became 'exhausted’! (A little like the pilot who hadn’t done a three sector day for some considerable time!)

It was 1815hrs by the time we had taxied to the apron and shut down ...

Kansas is a hot, dry and windy place or at least it was on Sunday as we visited downtown Topeka. We saw the beautiful capital building and several churches. Travel Day

We continued our trip east on I-80 passing farm fields of corn, soy beans and plants we could not identify, it got a little monotonous. At exit 379 we headed south NE 15, then east on NE 33, south on NE 103 and finally NE 4 to the “Homestead National Monument of America” just west of the town of Beatrice. The monument is a tribute to the pioneers that settled ...

... will figure out the next 2 nights tomorrow. Thankfully, we are ready to be flexible and just figure things out as we go! The plus side was that it was much easier to fit in dinner with one of Grant's Army buddies...and it was great to be able to spend some time chatting with him. So, we will enjoy our comfy bed tonight & hot breakfast in the morning and then drive out to Tallgrass and start looking for a place to camp for a night or two. We learned on our last ...
