I read a lot of travel blogs and really feel for those intrepid travellers who take their first steps on their journey and promptly fall into a flaming pit of lava, figuratively speaking of course. Well that experience finally happened to me on this trip. The wake up at 3.42am wouldn't have been so bad if people screaming on my echoic street hadn't waked me up several times during the night or by my over active brain freaking that I would sleep in, not hear the phone alarm, wouldn't hear the ...
Exmouth, Australia adawnWell it wasn't much better. We woke up to another very overcast day and it looked like it was going to rain. This was the day of our Whale Shark swim with Ningaloo Blue - www.ningalooblue.com.au and the whole reason we travelled up here. If there is rain the spotter planes cannot go up and try and find the whale sharks and with visibility being poor there was a slim chance anyway. The morning started out okay, we got on the boat, met the crew, who were awesome. We had Hamish - one of our dive...
Exmouth, Australia adawnTo our astonishment there was blue skies in the morning and no sign of black clouds. The crew on the boat were impressed with he fact that I was game enough to come back for more. There was a really nice Italian couple that were on the boat the day before and they managed to get on with us again. The day could not have been more different, one of the ladies on the boat asked when we were out "Is this Disneyland?" because it was just so perfect. To sum it up Sunday the 27th of April was Magic!...
Exmouth, Australia adawnSo yesterday I went swimming with whale sharks!! It was so exciting because that was one of the things I had really been looking forward to doing, and I was not disappointed! It was awesome! A rip snorter of a day! The guide actually said that! heehee We left on the boat around 8:30 am and went to a reef area that's relatively shallow so we had a good snorkel for about an hour. Then we took about half an hour to get around the reef to the deeper water and waited for our spotter plane to spot...

Exmouth, Western Australia, Australia jillsyArrived in Exmouth after catching our connection from Perth. The flight was a little bit hairy to say the least! We'd heard from an Aussie guy who used to live in Alice Springs that it can get quite turbulent when the plane is landing in very hot weather due to the heat from the ground pushing upwards against the plane as it descends (apparently). There was bad turbulence when we landed in Alice but we were just thankful that we'd found that out before we flew there. However nothing could hav...
Exmouth, Australia lesandsteveHad something of a misunderstanding about the wake up time as I was under the impression that we had a sleep in day today until 8:30 and that was when I'd set my clock to. As a result I missed breakfast and was more than a bit sleepy on the drive to Coral Bay. We had a long drive and passed lots of kangaroos, which was much the same territory as we'd been going over the past few days but at some point there was less red earth between the plants and scrub and more almost grassy covering. Also ...
Exmouth, Australia lroffThe advert said that "Today is yours to do as you want, or you can come on our FREE explorer tour out to Cape Range and Turquoise Bay with us if you like. It's a FREE tour and a great way to see what's around Exmouth." I stayed in and updated my journal in the incredible heat. Enjoyed the sight of emus pecking around right outside our dorm rooms. Again I felt like I was getting eaten alive by something I could not see. My bites were, although it seems impossible, getting worse. The other trip...
Exmouth, Australia lroffToday most of the group went on snorkelling tours to see sharks, turtles and mantarays, I unfortunately couldn't afford to do any of that so decided to spend the day relaxing on the beach - it was lovely after being on the move for 4 days. We left Coral Bay about 4pm to head up to Exmouth where we were staying at the Pot Shot resort. Had a lovely BBQ dinner and only a couple of drinks as I was diving the next day.
Exmouth, Australia nicebutdimI awoke very early on the morning of the 1st October to the sound of screeching. A large black cockroach had taken upon itself to crawl across the face of a Rhiannon in peaceful repose. Slumber was immediately terminated and was not to be resumed. A hurried breakfast followed and after a quick check around to make sure I hadn’t left behind anything important, like my passport or Rhiannon, I left the house on Central Avenue that had been the base of so many fun times. Gilesy, out of the ...

Exmouth, Western Australia, Australia jatty... Leah hung onto James neck and even she could see the fish! I could go on about it all day! The next day was a bit cloudy so James took Mark fishing, and with some help from a fellow camper with his set up and different bait we had some very nice Silver Bream for dinner! Once we had worked out how to pack up the pop up shower tent(40 mins later and with the help of some others) we were off again leaving a little sadly the next morning. We are heading to Karijini!!
