At the Airport
Leela as excited as a puppy dog and in the queue at the airport. Interesting conversation with her last night as said I wanted to take some kit and maybe go to the gym when we were there. I asked if she wanted to join me. She said her knees are a bit dodgy so the only thing she thinks she ...
Day 66
... which is one of the provinces.
It is a very upmarket place & real estate is sky high.
A block of units is $3million & a private home is $1 1/2 million.
To rent a unit is $3 thousand a month.
We went for ride in a horse & carriage for half an hour and enjoyed the slow pace & wonderful commentary by the lady driver.
It was then ...
Too close to being done
... a lot of people again. Thinking ahead, I took my snorkel and mask and bug spray. The snorkel and mask worked like a charm but the bug spray had no effect on the little blighters. We all got so bitten. We looked like we had the chicken pox the next few days with hundreds of bites all over arms, legs, and faces. Some stayed all night on the island but I hightailed it back as soon as I could. They had to take one of the trainees to the island of Tortola miles away ...
Bermuda shorts
... Mopeds were everywhere. They looked like they were rentals the way they lined the streets, but they were just locals parking. And, my stunning observation for this stop……….. all the roofs are painted white! I mean all of them. When you see all the pastel, it just looks cool. The white roofs are what make it work! I learned some trivia: The white roof paint has some limestone in it which is ...
Getting things sorted, round the world ticket
... as it looks. The One World website has a lovely planning tool on the web that allows you to plan the flights and check if they comply to the rules for the ticket. These rules are a couple of pages of small print, which are an easy prey for Linda. The tool is as frustrating as it is useful, it takes quite some time to click all the 16 flights together, but then when you decide to make a change somewhere in the middle, things often go bad, and this is where ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Pompano Beach Club Southampton
The finishing touch to our wedding!
My wife and I stayed at Pompano for our honeymoon in June. Look no further for this is heaven! We couldn't have asked for a more elegant and wonderful vacation. The Club is everything you want on your honeymoon.... great food, great sunsets and lots of peace and quite!
Spend the extra money and get an ocean view room. We stayed in the "dolphin house" on the second floor and let me tell you about the view....breathtaking!!!!! Don't let anyone scare you about staying at a small resort.....It's the only way to vacation. Just booked our one year anniversary return, wouldn't go anywhere else.
Our Wedding
We got married on New Year's Eve at St. Anne's Church about 5 minutes from the Pompano Beach Club. If you are traveling to Bermuda this is the only place to stay. We had 10 people with us and they knew allof our names and what we liked and didn't like. The food was excellent, definitely gourmet. They have 5 chefs and they are all wonderful and personable always willing to talk with you. The pastry chef mad eour wedding cake and it was excellent!! We stayed at the Pompano for 8 days and hated to leave. We felt like we were leaving our family on the last day. Don't miss an opportunity to see the beautiful sunsets and get personal service. We will be going back for our 1st anniversary for sure!! Say hi to Tim and Larry and their wonderful staff!!
Best place to stay in Bermuda
This place has it all. If you want a stay where you feel like you are part of a big family, this is the place to go. The setting is quite extraordinary, even by Bermuda standards, which is quite high. The people there are warm, wonderful and somehow they still let you do your own thing. The rooms and view are fabulous. There's a beautiful golf course within walking distance. My daughter and I went on a catamaran ride which was set up by the good people at Pompano Beach. The beach is beautiful, secluded and all your own. It's a little bit of heaven. The food is terrific--there is absolutely no negative to making Pompano Beach your destination of choice! My photos from our trip look like they came out of a magazine. Don't miss the best place to stay in Bermuda...POMPANO BEACH!
Pick up and go to the Pompano
We just returned from the Pompano Beach Club in Bermuda. It was a terrifc place to stay. We had a deluxe room overlooking the ocean in a very private location. It was beautiful. The food was very good. Could have been more variety at breakfast but it was good. Dinner was exceptional. It was a 5 course meal. The views at dinner were great, especially if you sat outside. The bakery chef made awesome deserts. The staff was so friendly. They knew you by name and greeted you whenever you walked by. They drove you to the Ferry or the bus stop. Then they picked you up and drove you back. They went above and beyond. We loved Bermuda as it is a gorgeous island and we loved the Pompano. We are thinking about when we can return again.
Pompano Beach Blub - near perfect! A+++
I went with my girlfriend for a long weekend at the beginning of March.
Right from the start the service was superb. The staff is extremely courteous and nice. We were there at the tail end of low season so the hotel was quite empty and we practically had the place to ourselves.
The ocean views are breathtaking and I would highly recommend the extra money for a Deluxe room. Our suite was spacious and very private. It felt like we were all alone in the middle of the ocean. The most memorable was the food. Bermuda's hotels are pretty much all EP so finding a hotel with any kind of meals included is rare. But the included breakfast and dinner were to die for. One day we wanted to catch the ferry to Hamilton and the owner drove us to the bus stop and even offered to pick us up afterwards.
I had one of the best weekends of my life, thanks to the excellent accomodations, great food, excellent staff and my loving girlfriend (Love you, T!). The trip was a wonderful short vacation and would definitely recommend Pompano to anyone.
My parents loved this place!
My parents stayed at The Pompano in 2002. We knew they had a great time when they talked about the trip months after they went. My Dad took some of the most beautiful sunsets, which he took from the porch right outside their room. My mom loved the secluded beach at the Pompano. She said it was perfect for those of us that aren't exactly beach babes anymore. They raved about the staff and how friendly they were. My parents were not suprised to learn that most of the people they met at The Pompano returned year after year. They told our family so much about The Pompano I could go on for hours. They have reservations to head back this year and they won't be alone; my mother's sister and husband have been told it is the best place to spend their 25th wedding anniversary!
Worth every penny.
As much as we loved Bermuda overall and are anxious to return, we cannot imagine staying anywhere else, after staying at The Pompano Beach Club. We know we could go back to Bermuda and stay somewhere less expensive, but our hearts belong to The Pompano. We have never had a better experience anywhere.
Perfect Choice!
I spent a LOT of time researching Bermuda resorts, and Pompano Beach was our first choice! After staying at the resort, I'm thrilled to say we made the right choice!Pompano is:Beautiful: the west-facing location gives the *best* sunset views, from anywhere on the property, although we did become partial to the panoramic views from the dining room and outdoor dining terrace.Friendly: we were greeted by name from our arrival and we felt like we got to know the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Each person we met acted like helping us and answering our questions was the best part of their own day!Romantic: we were celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary, and we were treated to a room upgrade, champagne, and chocolates. Want romance? Try watching a MOONset from the hot tub on the terrace overlooking the ocean, drinking rum swizzles with your toes in the pink sand, or watching a wedding on the beach at sunset, complete with barefoot bride & groom and the minister in formal coat & ecclesiastical collar, worn over pink Bermuda shorts, of course!Elegant: Our room was great, with a huge bathroom and private terrace, the food was incredible, (the pastry chef alone was worth the trip!) and the atmosphere a perfect combination of personal attention and privacy.Convenient: With its close location to the ferry and complimentary shuttle service (the owners themselves drove & picked us up) getting around the island to other points of interest was a breeze.Perfect: Thanks, Pompano!
Pompano - Perfect Destination
We can't say enough about our stay at Pompano Beach Club. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted and taken on a tour of the hotel by Tim O'Neill, whose warmth was typical of all of the staff. That was the beginning of what was the best experience we have ever had at a hotel. Our room was fabulous, with a view of the ocean and the near-by Port Royal Golf Course. The five-course meals (included in the MAP) were excellent and the staff in the dining room were wonderful. The pastry chef is reason enough to dine there.
Larry Lamb, one of the owners of the hotel, could not have been more gracious or hands-on. When we wanted to take the near-by ferry to Hamilton, he drove us to the dock and picked us up upon our return.
The private beach, though small, is pristine. The water is crystal clear and, at 85 degrees, was warmer than the heated pool.
Between the location, the privacy and the staff, one could not ask for a better break from reality. We highly recommend the Pompano Beach Club to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy the sun in a private setting, without the hassle of a large hotel. We intend to return very soon.
Heaven
Pompano is my favorite vacation location. Pompano is casual, but very elegant and is the perfect Bermuda hotel. Where else in Bermuda (or anywhere) does the owner bring your bags to your room for you and the other owner pick you up?? Tom and Larry Lamb (co-owning brothers) are fantastic hosts who only want to make their guests feel welcome. Also, the food here is the best of any of the dine-around hotels. The water is unbelievable and although the beach is small, it is rarely crowded and is, of course, private. Port Royal Golf Course is a short stroll away (your clubs are delivered). All I can say is GO!! My husband and I have been twice and are planning our third trip!
