    Great place for families.

Great place to stay, especially for families. A daily resort charge but there is a water park, golf, tennis, spa, and a ton of pools. The grandkids enjoyed the water park (you can get extra passes for guests) where we spent most of our days. We ate the buffet one evening at the Cascades, right in the water park which was OK. I was told they will be renovating next year to update the facility, which is good. My king suite was nicely appointed (towels are huge) but was showing its age. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Bad: Cleaning the room next door (vacuum) at 10:40 p.m.! Was told this was not unusual. Lots of hills to walk but they do offer shuttle service if needed. Parking is at a premium.

Our stay was great. A few pools/ hot tubs throughout the property to explore. Some hot tubs were not hot, they were pool water luke warm. The property is fun to walk around. HIlls and rocky.

With a long weekend looming, it was time to drive to Phoenix to visit the grandkids. Since they are now both in school, I like to take advantage of the long weekends to spend time with them.

Since my son had moved, I tried the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs. I like to stay somewhat near them and this sounded good. It was close by and during …

... off-season things had been sent for clearance. There were lots of bathing suits there but only a few one pieces and lots of two pieces that didn't go together. The orange flowered bottom that fit didn't go with the purple striped top that fit. So, I decided it wasn't going to happen and instead I ended up with a new dress. I found out at the sales till that I got a further 60% off of the mark-down price so ended up paying $16 for an originally $100 ...

This was a great trip and I loved experiencing a part of Mexico I had not seen previously. It's off the beaten path. History, culture and seeing the majestic Copper Canyon is what this trip was all about. It's not the margaritas and mojitos Mexico, but an opportunity to see a relatively remote part of this country. I hope you, too, can experience this part of Mexico - put it on your travel list - ...

... watch Sunday and see. The girls had lunch and went to Taliesin West, one of Frank Lloyd Wright's showcase homes. Used native, natural materials as much as possible. But, the natural materials (like redwood beams) were not suited to Arizona climate, and have had to be replaced over the years. They were impressed with the use of the environment to heat and cool the home. Wonderful dinner at Cafe Provence.
