The number one method of transportation in Thailand (and Cambodia) is without a doubt the scooter. In Pai, we ambled along "Walking Street" with the constant nagging fear that at any point we could be run down by some rushed Thai or inexperienced out-of-towner, and we've seen more white people with skinned ankles than we can count. Even the taxis are divided between cars, vans, and tuk tuks, which are scooters with a sort of covered trailer attachment that includes a ...

... and a bite to eat, to a place called 'Cook Kai'. We spent the rest of the day relaxing in the pool, or sea, depending on your preference (both were as warm as a bath) and watching the amazing sunset. Later that evening, we enjoyed dinner on the beach at a place called 'Miami'. 'Dive and Relax' was our first destination of the day. Gerard had very kindly offered to give us a lift; we thought it would be to the bus station however he offered to take us all the way to Krabi so we could get a coach to Koh Lanta, an hour and a half's drive away! How lovely!! When we arrived at the bus depot, Nui helped us buy our tickets to Koh Lanta and when sure we were prepared and settled for our two hour wait they left us to ...

... The journey back to Phi Phi Don was timed with sunset over the ocean which was really nice and clear bringing a close to a good little adventure. The evening was spent doing very little, primarily because I attempted the burger challenge at the Muay Thai bar and failed, miserably, feeling sick as a result. It did give us a chance to research our next steps as we would be again moving on the following day and as we move towards Malaysia, potentially less trodden paths. Written by ...

... have a bash at some Muay Thai boxing, which is the (violent) national sport of Thailand. The gym, which is down a narrow dirt track off the main road, turns out to be a very professional outfit, with its own onsite hotel, swimming pool and fitness centre. After an hour and a half of kicking, elbowing punching and a lot of sweating, Fred decides he is mad keen to thrash himself some more, and we sign up for a weeks' training, then stroll over to have ...
