Patong Beach, Phuket, Thailand hilaryramsey... becoming more accustomed to the rigors of the intense training. It was by no means easy..but I'm happy to say that I was able to train all 12 sessions for the week. There were some minor setbacks tough..mainly in the form of injuries. A nagging right shoulder injury...and a couple nics and bruises. The nics and bruises came mainly from sparring...and to be more specific...sparring with beginners. When you spar with the trainers...or someone with more ...
Phuket, Thailand lannyc... to remain standing under a fan near the window. Phuket town didn't look anything special, and we couldn't find San Miguel so had to have some Chang. The Power Bar on Soi Sansabai has become a place to start our evenings. Happy hour till nine with beers at 50 Baht - this is close to the Yorkshire bar which charges 115 for the same beer. The Grill place associated with the Yorkshire is very good though, and we had an excellent steak, sitting by ...
Patong, Phuket, Thailand russdiWe touched down in Phuket, ready for some serious relaxation on the beautiful beaches of southern Thailand, which everybody raves about. Landing in Phuket put us at the very epicentre of Thailand's sun holiday tourism. Phuket is the largest island off Thailand and the majority of the island has been turned into one big holiday resort. The reasons are clear: long stretches of white sandy beaches, clear blue seas, overhanging palm trees and a tropical climate all add up to make ...
Phuket, Thailand midniteramblers... beach and Graham must have felt a bit sorry for me because he weighed in with the occasional paddle. On hitting the beach it was time to assume the position. For Graham this was out in the open under 39C sun and for me under 1 or preferably 2 parasols. This echoed our last trip in the sun together when he came to visit me in Cyprus although back then I rarely ventured into the sun except to play sports and move between bars. At least on this trip I would sunbathe ...
Phi Phi, Thailand frankoc... by a rat which is caught in the lift next to the stage. Everytime someone comes in from outside and presses the lift button (to presumably get to their room), the lift doors open to reveal a scared and scurrying rat inside. And then they scream. And everyone else laughs raucously. The rat in the lift in itself becomes a show. Everyone seated in the Lobby to watch Elvis is torn between The King and The Rat. There is such anticipation when someone ...

We were then interupted by the street kid who we had met the night before. He came over to Sam with a massive grin and put his arm round him then shouted out you're a monkey and ran off, leaving us in fits of laughter. Thurs 15th This was our last day in Phuket. We had booked tickets for the ferry across to Phi Phi and left at 7:30 a.m.
Phuket, Phuket, Thailand christina_sam... that flocked to the apartment on a daily basis. For reasons that I have yet to understand, the presence of my friends irritated my roommates to no end. The more people that came in the front door, the larger the tension between us grew. I would have done almost anything to get out of that apartment but my friends had all hung the no vacancy sign on their doors and I was left with no choice but to swallow my pride and settle for the uneasy ...
