107 Moo 7, Tambol Ao Nang Muang Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand, 81000
If Bangkok is controlled chaos, Phuket is mutual disrespect. What a huge difference in people and attitudes. I feel sorry for people who fly into Bangkok, stay for a few days then head to Phuket. It is certainly not a typical Thai experience. We've arrived on Ko Phi Phi which is a non motorized island. Only feet and bicycles are used here. Our luggage was pushed on carts up the cobblestone small streets. Signing off for a few days, but posting some random pics. xo
Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand agnesnowAfter arriving in Phuket, Jon and i quickly worked out it was out of our budget and we needed to be in a chilled out place by the beach, after 5 days in Bangkok and Jon not being by a beach for nearly a month... argh! We opted to share a cab with a German couple and leg it to the ferry terminal and head for the islands, Koh Phi Phi Don our location for the next 7 days, at least. It is next to the island where The Beach was filmed, hit quite hard by the Tsunami, and is still in recovery phase,...
Koh Phi Phi Don, Thailand danijonKoh Phi Phi. 3 dager. Varmt, strand, litt fest og magetrøbbel. Vi samlet sammen en gjeng med tyskere, 5 i tallet og dro på tur, spiste middag sammen og festet litt en kveld. Koh Phi Phi. 3 days. Warm, beach, some partying and stomach problems. We collected some germans, 5 in numbers and went on trips, had dinner together and partied a little one night.
Koh Phi Phi, Thailand ingridtAn emotional return to this island for us but an important one as it is the main reason for us doing this trip. We had yet another nauseous ferry trip from Phuket to Phi Phi and whilst Margarida felt sick inside, Jim was outside enjoying the sunshine and views. We found the island very different to when we were last here in Dec 2004. There is a definate sense of getting on with life but there are huge gaps in the line of palm trees so now you can see directly through from one side of the beac...
Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand jimandmargaridaThe sad day came when we had to leave PP. We had bought out tickets to our next destination, Railay, and while we were excited, it was bittersweet as PP had captured our hearts. The boat from PP to Railay took around an hour and a half. We approached Railay at dusk, sailing by Phra Nang Beach and the rocky limestone cliffs that surround it. We stopped in the water just offshore Hat Railay West (beach) and a large longtail came out to meet us to take us and our luggage to shore. We decided to ...
Railay, Thailand krissyWell, the last day and half have been quite interesting. Between our excursion to Phi Phi and the terror threats reported to be aimed for Krabi Provence in Thailand, by Muslim Extremests... let's just say life has not been a beach, it has been more of a *****. Let's start with Koh Phi Phi as that might be more interesting... Erin and I packed our stuff on Thursday morning and sat down to breakfast with Cory's brothers friends from Williams. We weren't necessarily looking forward to leaving ou...
Back at Rai Leh, Thailand lisaludwigSo we left Koh Samui behind us and a 40 minute flight later we arrived on the Andaman (west) coast of Thailand. We were staying at a new hotel called the Sala Talay. It was a modern designed building built in a u shape so every room had a brilliant view of the rubbish dump/building site next door. The very helpful front desk staff had no record of our reservation and took a little persuading to finally show us to our room. Ao Nang was a busy little seaside town with lots of shops, restaurants...
Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand willandluce... obviously. The next morning, somebody thought it would be a good idea to make the almost-vertical hike up to the viewpoint. Not the greatest thought on the heels of a birthday night celebration. But we did it, & as always, its worth it. The weather was great yet again & the view phenomenal. We caught our breath & made the hike down, as we had to pack up & check out. Being lazy & hungover, Justin & I decided to simply stay at the same ...
Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand wally09... how they make the stuff. Simply cutting the bark of the tree every night results in a steady trickle of white rubber from the tree, which flows into a bowl tied lower down the trunk. From Ko Lanta we had planned moving east to the islands of Ko Samui, Ko Phanghan and Ko Tao. However, a tropical storm in that area meant that there wasn't much point in going there. So more time to enjoy relaxing Lanta! The island is very popular with divers, and we decided to take ...
Ko Lanta, Thailand midniteramblers... East which to be quite honest looked like the tsunami had just hit it. There was debris everywhere and lots of building work going on. Our accommodation though was lovely, we had out own wooden hut and free breakfast which is always a bonus!! A 2 minute walk through another hotel took us to Railay West - this was a stunning beach and was clear why a lot of people come here on their honeymoon (not us though!!) Our first night surprise surprise it was still raining so ...
