Historical Traveler Reviews Parkway International Resort Kissimmee
We booked a seven night stay at Parkway International for June 23 to 30, 2004 through its reservations line. We had never stayed there before and based our decision upon the information contained in the Island One website. We were asked for and paid a two night deposit. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told we had to pay the balance of the hotel stay (i.e. five nights) upon check in or we could not check in. The hotel wanted to charge our credit card for the five days before we stayed there! They said this was hotel policy yet no one had advised us of this prior to our arrival. If we had known, we would made an informed decision. We were also told that if we decided to leave before the seven days because we did not like the hotel, we would forfeit all of the monies paid. We also had to provide a security deposit which again was charged to our credit card immediately but which we are advised will take five to seven days to return to us. We were given the option of staying for the two nights with no guarantee of availability for the next five nights should we then decide to pay up front. We opted to stay the two nights instead of losing our deposit.
The unit was old and dated, and had ceramic tiles that were cracked from one wall to the next. It had a musty odour. We had four people in the unit and found that we could not all comforatably sit in the living room area because the sofa was too small and there was only one other chair. The master bedroom is awkward because there are no night tables on which to place your watch, etc. The top floor has vaulted ceilings but you have to climb three flights of stairs to get there.
The hotel has one pool and the fitness room consists of two small machines. All in all, the description of the hotel and its amenities is deceptive and should be updated. We were left with the feeling that we had overpaid for the quality of the accomodations. We did find a very nice resort for our last five days and that made up for the unpleasant experience at Parkway International.
My family of five stayed at this resort April 24 '04 we were all pleased with this establishment. We arrived in the middle of the night and were greeted by Dennis the night security guard who was exceptionally pleasant and accommodating. Our room was very clean and spacious. With having 5 people to get ready it was great to have two bathrooms and plenty of hot water. Another plus was having your own washer and dryer in your room. Getting to and from WDW was fast and easy. The only drawback was that we were on the third floor with no elevator it would have been tough getting our luggage up those stairs except for the fact that Dennis helped us with the heavy bags.
Due to bad weather didn't arrive at resort until 4:30AM. A very friendly security gaurd (Dennis) greeted me at the office with a smile. He was pleasent even at that ungodly hour, and assured me that he would have me in my room in no time. Which he did! I was frazzled, and tired, and he was a great help! And right away put me at ease! Upon entering our suite I became even more at ease! The place was immaculate. Even nicer than it appeared on the web-site. My children were delighted, and before long we were all fast asleep and comfortable in our new surroundings. My parents met us the next day and were equally pleased. Which was great as my father isn't pleased easily. The pool was great and heated, as was the spa. The staff was curtious and friendly, and security was on the ball at all times! All Disney parks were less than five minutes away, parking lot to parking lot!We had a great stay, and will definitley return in the future! Thanks to all at Parkway International! Don't hesitate to stay at this great resort!
Great! Would stay there again
Stayed Jan 2004. Parkway was better than expected. Room was very clean.
Nice pool area. We had 6 people, 2 families. Plenty of room. Kitchen and eating area were great. At registration they give you a bag containing paper towels, soap(s) for washing dishes, clothes, etc...
Our unit had a shower in the master bath which gave us 2 full baths.
Maid service is once a week -extra if you want it daily. We actually preferred not having someone come in the room every day. It was only a few minutes from Disney. Would stay there again.
We just got back from our stay at the Parkway International. We enjoyed our visit very much. The room was spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly. We would stay here again.
we had a great time. the condo was clean and very nice. my only complaint was that there was no shower in the master bath, just a huge tub. we stayed for 8 nights in feb 2001. we had a two bedroom with five people and we all had plenty of room. we had stayed at the sheraton vistana villas in 1999. we really loved it there also, but their prices are so high(about $170.00 compared to parkway at $89.00). get a coupon from a Florida visitors website and you will save. we are planning another trip to disney in 2005 and will probably stay here again. great plus, we did not have to do a time share meeting.
Thank you Parkway!!!
Thank you Parkway Int'l. We had a great Stay. Staff was friendly and the rooms were VERY CLEAN. We will be back and will highly recommend to others.
Owner who loves Parkway International
I am an owner of one of the Villas at Parkway. I purchased our timeshare 11 yrs ago with the intention of traveling around the world and trading in the time share process. I've never traded. My wife and I totally enjoy our week in Florida every year, and look forward to our place down south. We purchased when there were only 2 buildings, and have enjoyed seeing the development around us. We've ALWAYS had great service, with friendly people and close proximety to area attractions.
I read one of the reviews here, and as an owner I apoplize for the bad service you received. I can assure you it is not the norm.
What a horrible experience. Be warned, that if you are a non-smoker or someone who likes to be in a clean atmosphere, this is NOT the place for you. We were in the Orlando area for 2 weeks in August, and stayed at the Parkway for our last week, after coming from a TRUE "5" Star Resort. We were initially placed in a villa (apartment), that was so smoke filled, it was unbearable and we had to fight with the management to be moved to a different location. On our second day we were moved and inconvenienced, only to be told that we could not be guaranteed a smoke free room. We were also without power one evening, had bugs in our room (both of them), and were missing light covers and some fixtures on appliances. Steer clear of the Parkway, it was a major disappointment.
Great place to stay
we,ve been at parkway int last year in september for a week, and we loved it, great service, friendly staff, very good accomodation.Everything was as clean as a whistle.
We are travelling a lot to Orlando and this is the best place we,ve been to for the past 10 years.so i can say book it while you can its a lovely place lovely place.

... Muppets 3D, followed by Star Tours. By now it was time to grab some lunch. Courtney wanted the turkey muffuletta sandwich and red velvet cupcake from Starring Rolls. Nancy and I had the bbq chicken and rob combo with coleslaw and baked beans along with a banana pudding parfait from Fairfax near Tower of Terror. The meal was ok. The chicken could have been less dry and hotter. But all in all, not too bad of a meal. Out of pocket expense for the ...

You would have to experience all this for yourself to really understand what a great evening it was. We all left with huge smiles on our faces. Everyone who comes to Disney World should do Hoop De Doo at least once.
It was a wonderful way to end my 60th birthday.
... Our blinking tiaras were quite the rage. The man at the table next to us proposed to his girlfriend. And we took in the Wishes fireworks show at Magic Kingdom -- themed for Disney's current hit "Frozen" -- from the restaurant. I went out on the Contemporary catwalk to get good photos.
When I returned, the staff brought us creme brulee in honor of the birthday girl. It was the perfect ending to an enchanting evening.

In just a few minutes we left the canal behind and found ourselves in a swampy area. The vegetation varied from lily pads to small grasses; from small, skinny trees to tall, cattail-type grasses. As the boat skimmed along, the ducks ...
... and then we head back to the hotel to get a cab to the Loews Royal Pacific Hotel. Sean falls asleep in the stroller for the first time all week, and probably the only time that is completely inconvenient. We get all the bags and kids in the car and head out. All of the kids fell asleep in the van, leaving me to practice my very rusty French with our Haitian cab driver. Thirty minutes and $50 later we are at the entrance to our new hotel and I am loving it. The walkway into ...
