This morning we woke up and I took Savannah and Selina to music lessons at 10am. Music with Miss Sophie is the highlight of the week and the girls love music. Sophie lives in a beautiful rural area called Joyner, we drive past a Dam and thru treelined streets to get there. Music lessons are held in the Barn.
After Musis we packed up the car and …
The kids section were good, however for the cost very disappointing. I will never go back to this resort. List of things that happen in a 4 day stay.
1. Hole in the mattress, enough to sink into... replace on day 3
2. ATM not working advised everyday that it was to be fixed, still not operating by the time we left. Staff appeared …
We took a brief Easter Break to the golden beaches an hour's drive south from our home in Brisbane.
Spent an afternoon swimming in the sea and building sand castles. Stayed in the tacky but imaginative Paradise Resort (don't go unless you have kids).
It was a landmark event for us - Skye's first time in kid's club, looking …
... river and saw some wild crocodiles which was awesome! They are huge! In the afternoon we went for a horse riding trek through the rainforest and along the beach which was stunning! In the evening I had the delicious meal of tinned spaghetti on toast but with no cutlery or plates I had to eat out of a frying pan and use a ladle, this proved quite challenging!
Had to say goodbye to Esther the following morning after a lovely walk to the Cape Trib lookout which ...

We have loved sharing our adventures with everyone and have enjoyed feeling close to people despite the distance. The blog has been such a constant for us for almost 12 months, so it will feel strange not to blog. We are planning another (slightly different) blog down the track, when our website is live.
Thank you for your support and your great company on our journeys.

How has this resort rated in the past?
Kids will love this place, but be prepared for noise and mayhem. Atmosphere is not relaxing, just completely geared for little people.

We just got back from our first family holiday to the Gold Coast yesterday. We booked the Mercure Resort (now Paradise Resort) a couple of months ago
CANT WAIT FOR THE CHANGE
We just stayed at this resort and liked it immensely.
The rooms are basic, but I was only in there to sleep. The food is highly overpriced.
The Polynesian Dance Show was unreal! and free! Great entertainment for everyone.
Activities for the kids are great and keep them entertained. Great to see activities for adults as well, outdoor climbing wall and cocktail nights.
In October they are being taken over by a different company, Sun Leisure. The hotel will be called THE PARADISE RESORT. It will still be a family resort. ALL the rooms with be refurbished and the same with the pool and play areas.
I will definitely be back next year to experience the whole thing all over again.
GO THERE, ENJOY IT!
Im not a stuck up snob or hard to please but this hotel must be demolished .Its filthy ,unhygenic, crawling with screaming kids ,damp smelly ,Most people that go there and enjoy it must usually live in a squallor at home because this is the worst hotel I have ever seen and Im surprised that people book there .DO not stay here if you are clean and hygenic people !!you'll be extremely disappointed, believe me! YUK .I couldnt live in it for one night .Luckily I got reimbursed!!!
We stayed here for only 1 night - thank goodness - and got what we paid for - very little. The only thing going for the Mercure is its kids play area. I too would rate the hotel at 1 star. Tired and sad decor, paint peeling, dirty walls and carpet - suffering desperately from over-use and in dire need of refurbishment. Don't book this hotel for its included buffet breakfast or kids eat free programs either, they too are awful. By 8.00pm the buffet looked as though it hadn't been replenished all night and I watched so many childrens' hands and fingers go into the food that we opted to order from the menu instead. The resulting meal - 2 hamburgers with fries - took an hour to arrive. Breakfast the following morning was a similar experience. We could not get out of this hotel fast enough. True you get what you pay for, and if it were actually a 3.5 star then fine, but at $99 a night for the bed, the local backpackers would have been a better bet. Give this one a big miss.
Sit back and relax
what do you expect from two and a half or three-star-budget-hotel?
it's a little bit better than share a room and facilities in backpackers resort!
staff look so tired? it dues to an enormous number of customers during kids school holiday. and you know? kids are kids.. you just can't expect rooms to be such a nice like your home. i just can't expect a house with kids inside is CLEAN! Kids make it DIRTY!
just sit back, ralax, and enjoy gold coast sunshine.
that will do...
Just returned from 9 nights at this resort. My husband, myself and 6 1/2 year old daughter stayed there.
We just stayed 4 days at the resort. We were so impressed. The kids' club is fantastic. Our children had such a great time. The kids eat free deal is great value - especially when the kids are in the kids' club.
We were recommended this hotel for it's family friendly environment.
The facilities available for the children were good but that's where it ends. Although the hotel is rated 3.5 star I considered the room only 1 star. The rooms are very ordinary, simple and outdated furnishings, paint was peeling off the walls, hallways and lifts need major upgrading. We were pestered by a time share salesperson in the complex which did annoy us and was very intrusive on our holiday. We left one night early to stay in a nicer hotel. We personally expected the hotel to be better but if you are not fussed with the above you may enjoy it.
Beach and city centre is only a short stroll away.
