    ... the middle of the desert so to say. The tunnels are about 40m high. History lesson finished. We found a great free camp – Archer River (and it even had a flushing toilet). Only minus was when the trucks went by early in the morning they all pulled their airhorn – didn’t bother me as I sleep like a log, but Dawn reckoned she heard every one.     Last night was an eventful one. Shortly after getting into bed we heard something running around in our tent annex... when we checked it out we found a bandicoot trying to steal our bread! There was a bit of a comedy moment as I chased it out under the trailer with the Australia road map as my weapon of choice. The next thing the bandicoot was hopping back in the front door of the annex and off we went again!! ...

    ... Drove through the rainforest to Cape Tribulation. This is where Captain Cook was stranded while repairing his boat. Went to Cape Tribulation then had lunch in the car park of the Daintree Eco-Discovery Centre. Then into the centre where we did the canopy walk first (actually a canopy tower), then explored some different paths in the Centre. We borrowed some umbrellas when it started to pour with rain - 5 minutes later a lady ...

    ... it was the best of the bad bunch. As they had a tarp covering part of the high ground at least it was dry, very rocky but dry. That will do us. So we reverse in and park up, get our annexe set up. We then head for one of the walks, the lady explained we had short walk off the beach thru the forest to get to the river.     ... in the airport garden, with a glass of sparkling wine. If we really have to come home, this is a pleasant way to do it. Aarhhh!!! Spoke too soon.
