Historical Traveler Reviews Papillon Belvil Hotel Belek

Superb holiday...even better if you have kids

    from

Well, what can I say?? My partner, my 6yr old daughter and I have just returned from a fantastic week at the Papillon Belvil. We had the most amazing time. Lots of reviews have said that the staff speak little English...well try talking to them and you will find out differently. We made friends with a few of the animation team. The mini club is lovely thanks to the divine Joya and wonderful Mehmet who run it for the English kids. They adore the kids and my little one did not want to leave. The kids even got to put on their own show!! It was brilliant. Joya's husband Ibrahim is the sports co-ordinater and he is lovely and speaks very good English. Dont go expecting to dance the night away, but the shows that the animation team put on are very funny and require audience participation if you are game for a laugh. The bungalows are perfect and if there are 3/4 of you email ahead and request room 2507 as it leads you out on to the pool and beach...some of the bungalows go far back and would be a bit of a trek. The pools and waterslides will keep the kids and husbands entertained, but are only open certain hours every day. There is a lovely waterfall in one of the pools that i hadn't seen in any brochures so I think it is a new feature. Don't forget to go for 4 o'clock donuts by the pool every day.....Food was great especially the desserts...All in all we would definately go back...Oh yes, the pedalos on the beach are free...we didnt realise untill the last day. Have a great time.

    Overall is was good value

    from

Just returned from the Papillon holiday village on 17th April and overall it was a good experience. We stayed in one of the bungalows and i would rate them as between 3 & 4 star. The hotel rooms are superior if you want one of them. Service was good and all staff are very polite although few of them speak very good english as the resort is geared mainly for German, Russian & French tourists. Bungalow was cleaned every day with fresh towels and the beds changed twice in the week we we there. Entertainment team work very hard trying to get people interseted during the day with games, dancing lessons etc. They have something on each night as well but don't expect a west end show.

My only gripe really was that the A La Carte resturaunts were not open and 1 will open on the 1st May and the rest on the 15th May.

Food in the main resturaunt was geared mainly for our European gguests as stated above but you always found something to eat no problem. There was also a microwave in the resturaunt to heat your food up if reqd. The complex itself is nice and there is plenty to do or not to do, whatever you decide. The pool bars also do snacks and coffee/tea etc.

I cannot comment on Belek itself as we never left the complex(lazy week).

The area is developing fast and Golf courses are springing up as the area is quite lush & green.

I would return to this area and probably try some of the neighbouring hotels & complexes as they all look good but would not hesitate to go back to the above mentioned hotel.

    Luxury Holiday at affordable prices.

    from

We booked our holiday through Travelzoo and travelled with the tour operator Cosmos, which incidentally are a new type of swear word in my opinion, I have seldom come across a more incompetent company, almost all of the information they supplied was a little bit wrong, nothing drastic happened and we had a fabulous holiday but it really wasn't any thanks to them.

The Papillon Belvil is the sort of resort where you could quite happily not leave the hotel for the entire stay if you wanted to do such a terrible thing, the food was absolutely phenomenal and all areas of the hotel incredibly clean, they cater for all diets in the food hall and the sheer amount of food and choice can be overwhelming but only in a kid in a chocolate factory kind of way.

The staff are generally lovley but mainly do not speak other than a smattering of English, the main language in use is german and even the british films playing at the in house cinema are dubbed in German with subtitles in English.

There are plenty of activities for children, all of the drinks alcoholic or not are free of charge and the entertainment team were an absolute pleasure to be around.

I can't think of a bad word to say about the Papillon Belvil except that it will ruin all other future hotel stays, I defy you to find better.

    Un hôtel de première classe

    from

    from

    Erstklassiges Hotel

    from

    Loved Papillon Belvil

    from

Booked for 2 weeks with Cosmos, Cosmos terrible, hotel great. Party of 6, 2 adults and 4 children age range from 5 - 14. Booked two adjacent rooms, one for mum/dad, one for the 4 children. Got given two rooms on different floors!. Rectified a day later.

Paid a small premium for rooms in main building, these are larger (40m square) as opposed to village rooms (27m square), rooms were lovely, but air con not great in main building, far better in newer village rooms. Personally would have the smaller rooms with better aircon next time - it is very hot!

Large grounds means it never feels over crowded, high staff to guest ratio means polite and friendly help always on hand.

Hotel immaculately clean, toilets in pool areas are like palaces!

Buffet is staggeringly good, but if you want A la Carte you have to book in the morning between 09.30 and 10.30 but be warned, they book up fast, best get there at 09.20 to be sure of booking a la carte. Wine quality rather variable. Lunchtime buffets at Beach Bar and Pool Bar excellent too, and the homemade doughnuts at 4pm are out of this world! Don't expect to come home thinner!

Pools are great, facilities are great, the entertaininers are just wonderful with children. The beach activities are mostly free (e.g. Kayaking) and those that aren't are good value (e.g. parasailing for 30 Euro), and very well organised (high emphasis on safety).

You will find about 80% of fellow guests are Russian / Ukrainian, and they don't make any effort to be friendly, in fact far from it. Despite endless free (well included) drink, no leery alcoholic behaviour witnessed.

Nightly shows are really good, and in general I would hate that kind of thing, so that is saying something, genuinely funny and genuinely talented dancers etc. Way beyond expectations.

Miniclub for young children well organised and much enjoyed by our 7 year old, Mehmet there is an absolute star!! Didn't try the teenage club.

Jeep Safari (booked through Cosmos) was superb. Manavgat excursion less so. On site medical service excellent (one child needed attention) but not cheap (claim back on your insurance).

Best day out is Troy water park, slides, and flumes like I have never seen, but don't go on the uphill rapids unless you are under 85kg. It says 90, but I know of two (me and one other) who got a bit stuck on it!

Dont take any Turkish Lira with you, everything but everything is priced and quoted in Euro whereever you go. Don't pay (as we did) over the odds for hair braiding at the on site hair dressers (£50), instead go in to the nearby village and get it done for about £12 as some friends did!

People we met had also stayed at other all inclusive resorts in the region, but all felt Papillon Belvil was the best they had stayed in, not least because it is genuinely all inclusive, you don't get charged extra for anything.

Only criticism of hotel is that the porterage (bellboys) couldn't cope with a party of 6 with 7 cases, both on arrival and departure it was a shambles, better off carrying your own cases. Front Desk though and Guest Relations are otherwise excellent attending to anything you raise efficiently and with a smile.

We had a problem on the transfer back to airport (long story), and complained to Cosmos, Our complaint was handled efficiently and with sympathy, and compensation given commensurate with what happened.

    Top Class Hotel

    from

We stayed here in July 2006 - This turely is a great holiday. Right on the beach offering something for everyone. You really are spoilt for choice here. The hotel has a great entertainment team who work hard throughout the day. The food is also exceptional and has a choice that even the hardest to feed could not resist. We cannot seem to find another hotel that offers the same for the value for money that we got from the Papillon Belvil. I hope you enjoy your stay as much and me and my family did. NB: No need to take a pool towel, as these are provided for you.

    All Good

    from

This hotel is the best we have ever been to , the staff cannot do enough for you , they all want to shake your hand and be friendly with you.

The food throughout the day is outstanding different cultures cuisines everyday all excellently prepared and laidout.

The entertainment on a night is second to none its like watching proffesionals everynight.

The rooms are immaculate and the minibar is always full, the air con keeps the room lovely and cool.

For any teenagers going there i would reccomend getting in with the reps because i did and i had a great time!

All in all an outstanding hotel *****

    Gutes Preis- Leistungsverhältnis

    from

Guter Service, gutes Essen, gepflegter Garten, insgesamt gutes Preis- Leistungsverhätnis.

Kritisch: 1. Also Trinkgelder direkt und persönlich geben.

For the rest of the day we just chilled out, went swimming in the pool, eating heaps at the astonishingly huge all you can eat buffet, OMG I don't think I can think of a better heaven then dying and living at the Titanic Hotel, the free food would do it for me haha, I worked out a room ...

Today was designed to be a vacation from touring, a day to do whatever you wanted. So I took an early morning walk to the ATM, grocery, and Gloria Jeans; two-hour boat ride; leisurely lunch and dinner in an outdoor cafe; afternoon walk past shops; and sat in the pension garden. The Mediterranean truly is turquoise in color here, the breezes soft, very ...

The streets were too narrow for our bus so we walked our suitcases to the pension. Then we took a walking tour of Old Town: Hadrian's Gate, a supermarket, walking past shops and cafes to the Mediterranean. Dinner was served outdoors in a peaceful restaurant with many courses including two desserts. Very ...
