Phil and I decided to change to tempo some what by enjoying the hospitality at The Grey Wolf Golf Course '19th Hole' which in the Ski Season turns into fine dining. The Restaurant is Japanese and we didn't even drink anything alcoholic!! The Traditional Green Tea provided a very flavoursome palate cleanser to wash down our amazing combinations of assorted Nigiri and Sushi rolls. I enjoyed the deep fried Shrimp rolls the most. A jug of Winchester and 3 games of pool later at T-bar was an appro...
Panorama, British Columbia, Canada mickeyj07Well folks, I've chosen to use 'when in Pano!!' to justify many of my latest experiences. I was driving the Dodge Grand Caravan which i will now refer to as 'Sally' because someone who will remain nameless picked up and enjoyed some snuggle time in. How else will 4 males decide on the name of a car except until the first person takes a girl there leaving only a name as trophy. Moving on!!! So 'Sally' is quite fun to criuse around in...at 7am.... most likely over the limit and on questionably ...
Panorama, British Columbia, Canada mickeyj07Hello again! As I have only just decided to document my adventure through this blog I have a bit of catch up to do....prepare yourself.... Thought it was about time I sent you a bit of an update of my first week or so in Canada! I have a mobile number over here now which is good for text messages - I can't believe that I have pay for receiving calls as well as making them, how ridiculous! Where to start....my first few days in Calgary were great. I met Sam and Mark (sister and brother) from A...
Calgary, Banff and Panorama Mountain Village, Alberta, Canada vhenschkeToday again I did not get up to all that much, had a good sleep which was needed as I couldn't seem to get much sleep the night before. Talked to Mum and Dad today, which was nice. Unfortunately I did not have too much to tell them as I haven't been doing that much. Yesterday I had a phone call from Fernie Alpine Resort about a job in the kitchen at the Daylodge there. The pay is ok, but I have to try and source my own accommodation - easier said than done to find reasonable share accommodati...

After temperatures reached 30 degrees yesterday we woke to an 11 degree morning and light rain. Time to move on, we sopped for lunch and a swim in the hot pools at Radium springs, the scenery is magnificent, although we were hoping to see some wildlife on the road, there were none. This afternoon we arrived at the Fairmont hot springs, and were ...

Banff and Jasper are different from American National Parks in that the cities of Banff and Jasper are part of their respective parks. Consequently, you have the nature opportunities combined with towns with the civilized amenities you don't usually get in a US national park. It is as if Jackson WY was located inside Grand Teton NP and in fact, Banff is very ...
... build Highway 93 through this narrow canyon, they routed a small stream through a tunnel underneath the highway. Just south of here that stream runs into the mighty Columbia River (yes, the Columbia River). The Columbia is flowing Northwest through Radium Hot Springs. We traveled on to Kootenay Valley Viewpoint at Sinclair Pass for a scenic overlook of the valley. On the way there we spotted a lone female Bighorn Sheep.
We parked at ...
I choose to start the story...now. My first couple of days at Panorama Mountain Resort were a buzz with remanissence and a feeling of how small we are as humans in the big scheme of things. The accommodation that my good ol'buddy and pal Phil lives in has huge resemblance to the uni colleges of CSU Wagga, the lifestyle of drinking all the time and lazying around brought back so many memories of my poor austudy days. The Village itself is much like a ...

I managed to take three separate shots of windmills: a row of them across the mountains, an old windmill and a new windmill turning with its' mystic beauty in a field. When I got home I "photoshopped" the 3 shots into one. A fun learning experience.
