Tyndall Air Force Base visit
I got to travel to sunny Florida and visit with Mike's brother Ron. Ron had been in the United States Air Force since 1981 and is retiring tomorrow as a LT Colonel. I like all the fighter planes around here. This is a training base for the pilots learning to fly the newest Air Force fighter jet, the F-22 Raptor. They also host other fighter squadrons who come in to test fire air to ...
Day Eight - The Florida Panhandle
*** To place this in context and view the timeline, begin by clicking on 'About This Blog' *** Tuesday, 23 October 2012 Today started with a quick ride into the tourist area of Panama City Beach, FL, a quick dip in the Gulf and relaxed breakfast at the resort's beach cafe. Then a leisurely ride up the coast to Pensacola, FL. The coastal road was a ...
Day before going home.. :(
... on a filet and some onion rings... but it was SO good... it is most certainly a tourist trap that is overpriced... but it sure is good.... after eating, we hit the gift shop to check out all the random ****.... and sweet Jesus what a bunch of RANDOM ****! It is always interesting to me to see what people will spend their money on, but to each his own... :)
Headed back to the condo... and slipped into a food ...
I got sunshine......
... and headed back to the condo to pre-game for going out. David had never been out to Splash Bar (one of two very tragic gay bars down in PCB... but the lesser of two evils)... so we made a pact to take him... its a right of passage... everyone has to go at least once. Every time we have gone, we have always walked away with fun stories... and this night was no different! They had two go go boys (per usual) dancing on the bar... and both were actually cute this time.. ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Days Inn Panama City Beach/Ocean Front
Nice Place - Great Pool
This place has been around since the early 1980s and is showing its age. The rooms aren't bad, but they're older and you can expect the usual wear that you find with a hotel in need of a comprehensive re-do. The rooms have private balconies overlooking the gulf and they are all directly oceanfront. The pool is terrific and the kids love it. It is a big cascading waterfall that you can swim behind. It's certainly unique. The location is excellent - right in the heart of PCB.
I would recommend this place, but don't expect an extremely up-to-date room. It is a good vacation location and excellent view. The kids will love it.
Prepare to move rooms
The view was the best part of this trip. In the first room that we got, the refrigerator door would not stay shut so they gave us another room. In the secont room the air conditioner made a terrible noise. Finally they upgraded us to a master room, but the only thing it had besides the basic rooms was an extra bed. And the staff was rude except for the maintence guy, they would talk on the phone about personal stuff while you were waiting for service. I would rather sleep outside than to stay there again.
Avoid avoid avoid
This was by far the worst hotel/motel place that I have ever stayed. I stayed there for my spring break trip and because of the poor service and the rude staff it made my trip awful. They make you wear id bands and the bands were checked when you walked in and out of the facilities. We were treated like prisoners. I understand that it was spring break and college kids do crazy things, but this was no way to treat your guests. Plus, they didn't provide maid service everyday, maid service had to be requested. Their towels were dirty with stains and hair. Their bedsheets were dirty, the place was just gross. I will never stay at a Days Inn every again.
I loved it!
The staff was great, the rooms were clean... except the sand I tracked in from the beach. Everyone was friendly, the pool was awsome. The view was great. Your right on the Panama City strip... you can walk the strip at night and walk on the beach during the day. It was fun, and the hotel was very convienent. everything was right there, and it was nice.
Not a good hotel
From the brochures and online documents, I thought that this would be a really great hotel. And it would be if only their housekeeping would actually clean. The floors were continuously sticky and unclean. The sheets and comforter were not changed regularly. All in all, we will not be staying here again.
Not Clean!
We stayed at the Days Inn from November 28 through November 30, 2003.
My first impression as soon as we walked into the room was DIRTY! Mind you, my boyfriend and I are in our mid-twenties and do not expect high-class, but we expected better than this, especially while visiting on an off-weekend. We requested a suite, which was more like a spring break "sprawl anywhere" room. The microwave and coffee maker were dirty, and the fridge didn't close because there was rust on it! Even the door hinges had rust on them (all of the doors!). The bathroom floor was dirty and the sheets had a faint smell of smoke, which made me question the last time they had been washed. I checked out the hotel on the internet before going...all I can say is that we were disappointed with it when we saw it in person! The only redeeming value is the beautiful beach it overlooks! Next time we are going to stay at the Holiday Inn SunSpree! It is only $10 more a night!
This was the nicest place iv'e stayed
We had reservations at another hotel but didn't feel safe there and left. The staff at the days inn found us a room even though this was the week of the Indian Summer Festival and they were almost booked. The room was very spacious and clean. The balcony looks right out over the beach. The pool and hot tub areas were always clean and never too crowded. Every day the cleaning staff would restock my room with not only extra soaps and shampoos but also dishwashing liquids and coffee and coffee filters. I have visited Panama City Beach at least a couple of times my whole life and the Days Inn made this the best trip so far.
The Greatest Pool
It was our first visit to Panama City Beach and we loved it ! The motel staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us an excellent price for our 7 night stay. The pool has to be the best on the beach! It was beautiful. We will definetly go back soon.
Not clean
My husband and I were there for the Indian Summer Festival Oct 10, 11 and 12. The only problem we had was that the room was not clean. The floors are ceramic tile though-out and they were sandy and had hair everywhere. We didn't mind not having carpeting if the floors had been clean. We ended up going to Walmart for slippers to walk around the room in. The microwave and coffee maker were both filthy. I called the front desk on the first morning to have them ask housekeeping to give the room a good cleaning and to clean the floor. We were out of the room for about three hours - they did come in and wet mop the floors but didn't sweep up the hair nor did they clean the microwave or coffee pot. So ... we ended up checking out after two nights instead of three because we could never get comfortable in the dirty room.
Loved the entire atmosphere
All of the reviews were pretty much negative we were there from July 16 through July 20 03. I just want to give a wonderful review everything was clean people were wonderful. The pool was great that is the best feature. We were even able to check in at 12noon when it was not suppose to be until 4 pm. I would recommend to anyone it was wonderful at least at this time frame I would stay out of panama city any time during spring break. I will give them a thumbs up.
