After a long 11 hour drive from Redding to San Diego we arrived at our hotel which we were glad to be staying for 4 nights. As we got closer to Los Angeles we noticed again how mad, fast and aggressive the driving had become. We found out that a max speed limit of 65mph means nothing and you can just drive as fast as you can without hitting someone! :0..... I think poor Sam nearly soiled herself a few times. We are staying just outside of what I would call downtown San Diego in a ...

... by trail angel Mike, right next to his property. He was actually home and invited us hikers into his property. He had chicken, watermelon, beer, chicharrones, and other snacks. Wow!! ... Fact is I am good for about 250-300 miles at one time then I am done... You can see we got alot a miles to cover... and driver limitations. We thought about paying to have the truck and camper towed out west like we did several years ago when we started our trip in Jackson Wyoming. Instead, friends of ours, Jeff and Avie Carolyn (actually kind of sort of family - my brother in law Steven's in laws) ...

... Park in downtown San Diego to watch the Padres play the LA Dodgers. It was home opener so there was lots of festivities including a street party and a tribute to the military with parachuting Navy Seals into the park. The game was sold out with 45,000 plus fans cheering "Beat L.A." over and over. It worked. San Diego won 3-1 in a great game. Definitely worth the ticket and beer and peanuts. Hope all's well in your part of the world. We're Ok ...
