        Grass! Water! Humidity! It's been 6 weeks of 15% humidity. Boy do we feel the change. But it is nice. The dogs love it! There is grass again. Drove across the state of North Dakota today. The sky was a crazy color. Turns out it was smoke all the way from the Oregon, Washington and Idaho fires. The summer of fires. I hope they get rain soon.

        ... me of the metal palmetto trees in Columbia! Several buildings had interesting architecture. It was a very interesting city and we enjoyed touring.

        After we arrived back at the camper storms began to roll in. In checking local TV the Fargo area had tornado warnings and sightings, hail, lots of wind and some terrible weather right in the place we had been. Once again we got away at the right time. Ignorance is bliss!!

        We moved on and visited the Red Cloud school which had an impressive display of indian artefacts ans some equally impressive art pieces for a competition. We drove on and found a free park at the town of Martin. There were lots of children - looked like an end of school party. Also a baseball game.         ... we were thankfully protected from the wind by trees and the railroad cut. So we made decent time, and when the rain stopped, we began to dry out – a little. It was much better for conversation, too, without the wind, and we had a good time. We decided to pull into Dalton – a hamlet supposedly 3-6 miles from our stopping point at Ashby.
