A fabulous alternative to Disney!
This Marriott is an excellent choice. The staff was wonderful and the accomodations impressive. The pools (I think there's 4 plus 6 hot tubs) were great. There is a fabulous workout facility and a gameroom for the kids. Everyone here was friendly and focused on the guests. It is extremely close to Disney. We could even see the Disney fireworks from our hotel balcony. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area.
Nice spot - July 03
The hotel looks impressive from the entry. I'm a do it yourself type so I grabbed a luggage cart an started unloading at the front door area.
After I loaded the cart a bell dude came an said he would roll the cart inside so he wouldn't look bad for his boss (yeah right!). He took the cart to the elevator and I took it from there saving tippage. I parked the car and discovered it was a 8 minute trek back to the hotel by fast foot. A parking shuttle is available, but you have to wait a little bit for it. My suggestion for them is to get more than one shuttle! The room was nice and the pool view was great. This is a big hotel so there is a bit of walking to get around. The pool was spectacular saving me the Disney water park money. As is the case with all hotels, the food is too expensive. It's nice to have such a variety of restaurants around the area. To see the Disney summer fireworks, to to the 27th floor and go to the end of the building to the window in the hallway.
You can get a good view of downtown Disney from here. The fireworks are by the buildings way behind Downtown Disney (the buildings are the Contemporary Hotel, Space Mountain, and Cindy's Castle if you have binoculars!). I can recommend this facility, but you can see other great hotels in the area as well. Take a trip to the Gaylord Palms Resort to look around - ask the desk to show you one of the rooms.
Although impressive, it's too expensive! Back to the Marriott . . . I would stay here again but would not pay more than $140 nt. for a poolview room. Have fun!
Marriott Orlando World Center has a great pool
We stayed here during Easter 2003. We had a nice view of the pool area.
The pool is huge, with a slide, a water falls and numerous hot tubs.
Rooms were very nice. My daughter and I took advantage of the spa for massages. Very nice and relaxing. We had heard of the high restaurant prices so we ate out quite a bit but room service actually wasn't too bad price wise. We had saved up Marriott points so were happy to use them during such a busy holiday time. For an upscale hotel I would definitely recommend this hotel. The conceige was also very helpful giving information and booking events for us. We parked in the back of the hotel which I feel was closer then the parking to the right of the hotel. Was very convenient as we were staying in that part of the hotel.
No Integrity on June 21,2003
Upon my arrival to the hotel, paying a taxi $40.00 and exhausted from the trip our bags were unloaded as we went to check in. I had a guaranteed reservation that they did not honor. Since I had made my reservation way in advance I was offered a discount rate on my room.
The Manager on duty(Karina Landaeta) informed me that a convention was staying over and they were over booked for the whole week. I asked her what that had to do with my room. The people that were staying over needed to be told that other guest were arriving and they did not have the room. The manager informs me that I was just selected and they would send me to another hotel. Still talking with her she said "well you said your going to the parks anyway". FURIOUS, and my family had no room. I asked why they did not contact me so I would have had enough time to find another hotel. The manager then lied and said we did yesterday but we got no answer. I looked at her and said I was at home all day and besides I have an answering machine (No Integrity). They sent us to another marriott that was about 40 minutes away. Very displeased with that Hotel, and the way they handled business I was calling around all evening trying to find us another hotel. It was an awful ordeal, but if your heart is set on this hotel have a backup plan. Marriott has always been my favorite hotel chain until this experience. They could get more money for my room per night since I had that discount rate, I believe that was what this was all about. I will never stay at another Marriott Property. I recommend the Gaylord Palms Resort.
Huge Hotel....Like something out of Vegas....
I stayed here in 2000. just found this site recently but want to add review.... Hotel is beautiful. We came in on the ballroom side and had to walk the entire way down so I havent forgotten how huge it was. Nice restaurants on property especially the steakhouse. Pool is enormous! I have never seen as many chaise lounges in my life. They seemed to never end. Very close to the Disney parks driving distance. Our room over looked the glass lobby. The hotel was still under construction when I visited. Room was very clean and nice. Would definately recoomend to anyone.
Worth The Money!
I stayed at the orlando world center marriott about a month ago and I was amazed! The hotel is huge and gorgeous! The service was wonderful, the staff was very efficient and everyone was very friendly. The hotel rooms are a bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for; if you want cheep go to a Holliday Inn. It was definately worth the money. I can't wait to return
When we arrived at the Marriott tired after our trip, we were told that the convention had decided to stay an extra day and they did not have our guaranteed room available. However, Marriott paid for our night at the Caribe Royale. We returned the next day, received two excellent ajoining rooms looking out at the pools and had a great stay. The hotel is very close to Disney, has a huge pool for the kids, and an excellent breakfast buffet (which was included in our government rate, a huge bonus!). Expect to be staying in a large hotel that caters to conventions. That said, it was by far the best value for us outside Disney property.
Great resort-bad PR
I had pre paid reservations for two nights at the World Center Marriott, upon arrival to the resort we unloaded the car and had it valet parked. checking in at the front desk we were informed that there was a group/convention at the hotel and that they had exended there stay for one more night therefore anyone checking in that evening was being sent down the road to another hotel. We were offered a hospitality suite for the night and agreed to look at the room (which had no bed) and upon returning to the front desk we were informed that someone else had just given that room away. At that point we were exhausted and disgusted after having just driven there from Tampa and decided to cut our loses and check into the other hotel down the road. As we informed the valet that we needed our car- we waited an unbelievable 30 mintes for them to get the car. The entire experience was crazy and we were outraged! The next day we did return to the hotel and had a wonderful room overlooking the pool and really enjoyed the hotel facilities - it is a beautiful resort I just wish they knew how to deal with people a little better.
Not Worth The Money
FEB.15 - FEB. 19, 2003 Just returned from Marriott World Center and did not think it was worth the money! Standard size room with king bed and a pull-out sofa. Called several times to request a non-smoking room due to asthma, in addition to a king bed vs. 2 full beds. We got a room with a king bed but it was not non-smoking. Since the room did not have an odor of smoke, we let it go. However, first full day, we were gone for over 12 hours and returned at 8pm to find that our room was exactly as we left it in the morning. Called front desk and said they would contact housekeeping. A half hour later when no one called or came, called housekeeping ourselves and were informed that they were never contacted. So at 9pm, we had our room cleaned and fresh towels brought and turn-down service at the same time! Each day after, we did not get room service until 3 - 4 pm or later. We always had turn-down service. Then, on our last day, at 8 am, housekeeping came to clean the room! Go figure! We told her to come back after the 11:00 a.m. check-out! At $169. per night (We had the $152. AAA rate), we did not feel that it was worth the money. It was a nice resort, don't get me wrong! But, service is not one of their main priorities! A lot of people behind desks, but of little assistance!
Can't Wait to Visit Again!
We stayed at the Marriott Resort 16-18 August 2002. Wonderful place. Ammenities are numerous and if you like to swim all of the pools/spas will keep you happy. Rooms are lovely and we had a great view of the golf course and could see the fireworks at Pleasure Island at night.
Hope to go back there again real soon for another relaxing weekend.

... go! Down the Mayday Falls - a ride of rapids and bumps on a high and long single ride tube slide. Yeah!!! As William hopped out realised he had lost his Disney magic band. We reported to the lifesaver who advised they would need to get divers in and to check on way out of water park if recovered. So onto our next ride Keelhaul Falls a quick single tube ride down ending in a splash. Ummm where to next think the Humunga Kowabunga ride ...

We sat in a canoe that was on tracks half the time and sailing through water the rest. We went high, we went fast and Nikki's face in the photo was hillarious!!! Nikki dident like it! I on the other hand loved it! And we got wet once again!
After that was the Jurassic park ride! We were on a raft that went ...
... introduce himself from the top of a desert trolley. While this may sound like slightly odd behaviour it is perhaps explained somewhat by the fact that the cook in question is a tiny rat, named Remy. Remy is, of course, the culinary rodent star of Disney Pixar's Ratatouille and this incarnation is part of Disney's living character initiative. Even without the charming rat this meal was actually really good. Indeed it was better than any French meal I've ever eaten in ...
