Greetings from Koh Samui

Well, since we spoke last an awful lot has happened. We finished up by doing a bit of shopping on the Khao San Road and then got a taxi back to our hotel. Did a bit of bargaining for trainers etc that Leanne wanted - not bad - she ended up with some Pumas for not much more than 10pounds!! The next day was our Bangkok shopping day. We took the skytrain to one of the big shopping centres and started doing what us girls do best.........SHOP!! I bought some trainers - nice Reeboks for about 15pou...

The Two Rogers

Woke up one minute before the alarm! With a quick spring I'd sprung upright and into the shower! There was a thunder that struck, maybe it was my the muscles in my left thigh... or the bones in my right foot. Or the sore knuckle. Or the... you name it. So there it was. And as soon as I'd eaten my burnt toast I'd realized I wasn't going to go for morning training and today was the day I was going to move out of this too-expensive/comfortable bungalow! I packed while watching the film "Sunshine...

Back to the Grindstone

Well sort of back to the grinder... Last night I totally spaced out on how good the film Mr and Mrs Smith really is. Something about Angelina bugged me until I watched that again last night and realized how great she really is. And who was the director? Those action sequences were really planned; each a separate story in itself, beginning middle end! Amazing. Would love to see the storyboards. Great writing too. It now goes on my top 10 fave movies of this particular time. I also laughed out ...

Revenge of the Double Meat Hamburger

Asleep at 11pm then awake again at 1am until 3am. The burger just wouldn't digest. Need to eat one of those at lunchtime! Slept until noon. Totally wiped out. *********** to learn! Back at Don's for Pot Roast and Mashed Potatoes... Awesome. Ate too much but it will all be absorbed no problem after today's practice. ~~~~update It wasn't absorbed. I think I've finally learned my lesson. I'm just so damn hungry all the time! Don't eat meat before practice... Actually, it seems chicken or fish is...

The Crystal Skull

Ate lunch with my best bro Tom... He showed me a place called the breakfast hut. I know, I told you yesterday I wouldn't eat any more heavy meat before practice but I had to try the pork chop steak breakfast that he'd told me about... It was great, but sure enough, we both regretted it at practice. It's hard to move the bod and kick and jump and do all those fancy moves when you've got 90% of your resources trying to digest a a hunk of animal flesh. The Rough Boys gang, which consists of Pres...

... without fear of drowning like a rat). On the other hand, the place is both tiny and very famous. Therefore, every plot of land available for development was developed, and consequently there was a somewhat claustrophobic atmosphere ever present. It was also crawling with Swedes (not really a bad thing, Scandinavians are my new favourite people), gap year groups (a very bad thing, I’ve had enough of bloody Esmeraldas and Hugos and Prescillas and Ruperts and their cliques and ...

Ao nang

... for the first time. We got on a crazy bus which beeped its horn the whole way trying to encourage customers, ha ha! When we arrived in town we luckily managed to find a shop which sold the waterproof case for Jim's camera, which has been really hard to find so we bought that so that next time we can take our own underwater photos. Having done some previous research about birdwatching in the area, we headed down to the harbour and hired a boatman to take us on a ...

I was realty OK until we stopped at the top and I hobbled over to the edge and immediately wrapped my toes around the edge of the platform and argued with the guy over who got to count. He was incredibly helpful in telling me that the longer people wait, the chance that they jump goes ...

Koh Phi Phi, July 21-23, 2008

... for one night. Ultimately we opted for Long Beach, which is a five-minute ride away by longtail taxi boat, where there are fewer things to do but a nicer and much less crowded beach to swim at. We checked into the Pearl Paradise (P.P.) resort, where the three of us shared a spacious bungalow near the beach. It was the first bungalow we'd stayed at that was made entirely out of bamboo, which was an experience--I was pretty sure that ...

Tonsai - just what we were after!

... Will managed to convince me to kayak through a cave in the rock and luckily there wasn't a bat to be seen! We headed back to Tonsai in the afternoon, showered and aftersunned our rather red shoulders and met Rich and Kate again for dinner. They'd been climbing that day (as they had the day before) and were really enjoying it. We thought about it but (a) it was quite expensive and (b) I had managed to crush one of my toes on a bus ...
