9 North Street Bribie Island, Queensland, Australia, 4507, 07-3400-1400
Well, we knew that we were definitely back in the west when flight delays our of Australia caused us to miss our connection and we ended up spending an unplanned 6 hours at the Darwin airport. However, the time was spend constructively: Steve and I catching up on the missed sleep (red eye from Singapore) and the boys beginning their immersion in Aussie culture, including a "new" language (Aussie slang, that is).
It also meant that we officially began our search for the boys ...
Adam and Gemma (need I say it...another friend from IBM) were our hosts in Brisbane and staying with them was going to provide an entirely different type of enjoyment and entertainment in the shape of their lovely 2 year old daughter Elise! They stay slightly north of the city up on Bribie Island (a sand island just off the East coast connected by a solitary bridge) and their amazing house really brought home some of the advantages of life in Australia to ...
Bribie Island, Queensland, Australia graeme_sarahSaturday 16th May 2009 Forecast was for a great Queensland winter's day with clear skies and moderate westerly winds so we decided to give the Pumicestone Passage a look for the first time. We launched at the boat ramp at the marina at Spinnaker Sound, just North of the Bribie Island Bridge. Saturday morning and good weather meant the place was chockablock with boats and trailers. But we managed OK. Good ramp. Sailed up the passage in ...
Bribie Island, Australia proaviaThe countdown is on in earnest now - 2 weeks tomorrow. Many phone calls between Monica and I to sort out a myriad of little details. I think we are both so excited that we may well explode just as we get to the airport. Hopefully this will all work out and there will be lots to read and see over the next few weeks Cate
Dann gab es Lunch (Burger, was sonst!).
Moreton Island, Queensland, Australia pacificocean... to the city center. It is another clean town that has a good mix of old and new architecture. But the city was founded and has grown since the mid 1800's. Therefore the old structures are more of the Victorian Era. The city is smaller than Sydney with its population of 1.5 million spread out over Australia's largest city by land area. The total city area size keeps Brisbane from looking as congested as other cities its size. The streets are lined with well manicured ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia danharriet... The next morning i packed up camp, and got a random call from John out of the blue. John, is a retiree, from Brisbane that i traveled with for a week in Romania aboot 2 yrs ago. He just backpacks around (but seriously takes his time cuz he has it) constantly and consistently each year and sometimes comes home for a month. He was home! I was headed to the airport though unfortunately (via bus, train) so didn't have much time. John offered to pick me up ...
Bribie Island, Queensland, Australia tracymillerGrant, Kim, Joe, Michelle and Myself all went on a trip to Moreton island for the weekend. Here's the lowdown - what we done and about the island! It's simular to Fraser Island - I reccomend it to anyone with a 4x4 and to those who love an adventure and enjoyed Fraser. Moreton island is less commersialised, the only difference is that it has a resort on a section of the island near where the ferry comes in, but if you don't want to stay at the resort you can ignore ...
Moreton Island, Queensland, Australia thai_lerHello again, Hate to make you all jealous but we have just come back from 4 wonderful days on Moreton Island. We picked up the camper trailer and handed over a heap of money. We now own our own portable home, all packed up on the back of a trailer. WE decided to have a practise run with our mates Melanie and Justin, as Justin is due to fly out to WA for 3 weeks work. Unlucky for us though ...
