The title says it all! Today we cycled from Valloire to Briancon over the Col du Galibier (2646m). The weather was against us pretty much all day, as we woke to pouring rain forcing us to drag everything inside and practically take over the sites shower block! It's been a wet start and finish to our first wedding anniversary today. Best intentions for an early start we're delayed by heavy rain this morning, but we made the first 50km before lunch in great time and had a big lunch outside the supermarket in Saint Michel de Maurienne. Currently tucked in our tent, enjoying looking through the photos so far while the rain continues ...

But that didn't deter any of the crowds, who lined the streets throughout the city to watch the race go past. ...

... It would be cool to see them struggle on the hills of the Cols, but they'll probably make it look easy! The Tour de France this year doesn't go up the Col du Galibier, but they do the Col du Lautaret, which we passed on the way down, as well as the Col d'Izoard, which we climb in a couple of days. We rode past some people camped out on the side of the road to watch the tour tomorrow. It's quite exciting to ride up some of the same climbs as them! Briancon is an ...
