    ... very fresh...

    All too soon it was time to take our leave and head on to our hotel..

    On the way we stopped for a bit of a stroll.. NOT a walk.. there was no backpack..
    It was here that I confirmed that Canadians are the masters of ambiguity.. it is not just their road rules..

    ... famous Combs Market, with the goats on the roof, yes - goats living on the roof! We wanted to try the pulled pork that was often on menus, so today it was – to order the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw. Delicious. The market itself was fun to walk through.

    ... just standing there on the rivers edge looking around when we witnessed the coolest thing. Out of nowhere a bald eagle swooped in from our left down to the river not 5 metres in front of us to grab something out of the water. The 'something' (we assumed a fish) dove under water, so he tucked his legs back in and flew off into the trees. We were both standing there in amazement at what we'd just seen when the 'something' surfaced, swam over to the riverbank and walked out - it ...

    We had a leisurely morning as we didn't have to check-out of the campsite until 11am and we didn't have a long drive. After a lovely morning we all hit the road heading towards Coombs and Parksville.

    Lynn and Steve were going to follow us most of the way, but we move a little slow sometimes (depending on the kids) and they needed to get back to Gabriola, so we parted ways after lunch in Port Alberni.

    ... had a reservation for and, as it turns out, in enough time to make the 12:45 ferry from Tsawwassen to Duke Point. On the way through Northwest Washington we began to smell the familiar smell and sight of the Pacific Ocean... YAY! This trip has been great for both of us, while we have enjoyed every step of the way we have come to appreciate where we live even more. There is a comfort in the mountains and ocean that kept calling us back.
