We took a guided tour bus for 3 hours. This was a short trip around there area. It is a good way to see
the local area plus the tour guideds are very informative
regarding the history and culture. This area grows coffee beans and pineapples. Very hilly areas very green
with lots of trees plants and wildlife. costa Rica means "Rich Coast". we cam back to the ship around noon, took a ...
... huevos) and of course, freshly squeezed orange juice. I then went to use the wireless internet and enjoy the pool at a new friend's (Patrick) Bed & Breakfast. It is located right next door to USAC so it is very convenient. The nicest woman works there, Berny, as the house manager. Her daughter works with the Puntarenas Hospital so as I was talking Spanish to Berny she said I could talk to her daughter and see if I ...
Puntarenas, Puntarenas, Costa Rica katie.egeland... There are Caymans and Crocodiles, but no Aligators. There are two International airports. San Jose and Liberia. Liberia is a tiny airport and the drive is 6 hours in to San Jose. They have over 30% of the country reserved as protected park land. This is the highest of any developed nation. There are rain forests, cloud forests, dry forests, mangroves, swamps, oceans, waterfalls and all sort of tropical pleasures. The main ...
Puntarenas, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica cartercostarica... they were only about $10 so no great loss. Later we all drove a bit further along the coast to Mal Pais, another beach town, but more popular with surfers due to the bigger and better waves there compared to at Montezuma. Ryan was keen to take out a board; and as I'd rather do something active than lie on the beach all afternoon, I rented one too. However, perhaps this was not the best place for a complete beginner! The waves were ...
Montezuma, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica matt.s.wise... way. The other options are to drive 2-2.5 hours to Puntarenas and then get in line to get on a ferry that will take another hour to Paquera and then continue your drive to Montezuma. The other option is a private shuttle that will pick you up in San Jose and drive you to Montezuma, that is only $45 but can take 5 hours. We rented a casita (a small house) on a beautiful piece of ...
Puntarenas, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica tanjahvid... down in the bay area. On our way back down to the ship we drove on the Pan American Highway and got to view the city of Puntarenas. Since the tour was well over the scheduled time and past our lunch, we headed back onto the ship for a late lunch with our table mates. So, the one thing we did not do was to visit the market or beach at the port. That night, we were pretty tired, but we did manage to stay up for some of the "Party Under The Stars".
Puntarenas, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica cabsvacations... was a fair amount of wildlife around, two expamples that I distinctly remember were the resident MaCcaw parrot outside one of the shops, and a tame Costa Rican bore, affectionately named "Philomina". Philomina would wonder around amongst the visitors and collapse from the searing daytime heat under our tables, right at your feet as if to encourage a bit of petting and stroking. She had the coursest furr I´ve ever felt. Even cuter than the bore though, was the parrot ...
Montezuma, Costa Rica saanddk... we saw some hand written signs in Hebrew at the hostel/tourist info center and then this guy comes out and asks us where we´re from. When we tell him Israel, he immediately starts talking to us in Hebrew and between his welcome and the signs in Hebrew telling us to go here, we decide to do it. Paying $5 per person per night for a nice bed and hot showers wasn´t too bad either. Tonight we did something different - a night tour in the cloud forest, with a guide ...
Monteverde, Costa Rica phoedo... other side of the peninsula, Malpais. So bright an early on Monday I got ready to take the ferry over. Then came a knock on my door, "We've been robbed!" You can guess my reaction.? I went down to Jewel's apt. to find everything had been ransacked and her TV was gone. So I quickly left the house to go tell her, she was in Malpais. I got to the sleepy town and checked my e-mail. Apparently the girls had left Malpais and went like 6km. away to stay in another ...
