Trekkie and Trekker

... and don't hastle you to buy all the time. The food and price is much better and the people seem more relaxed. Apart for this the city has everything to offer in terms of courses and we really regretted that we couldn't stay there for longer. We would like to come back here and spend more time.
Later we took the night bus back to Bangkok and as soon as we got there, we felt like **** but luckily enough we were only there for one night before our trip to Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam.

Chiang Mai, Thailand - Trek

... to my room, threw a terribly packed rucksack together (see later), threw all my clothes in my main backpack and hurried back into the lobby to wait for the bus. Not more than 30 seconds after I got back to the lobby, the bus was there and we were ready to go.
A little about the trek...There was a group of 11 people in my tour. We were going to be riding elephants, hiking for a full day, spending the night with a ...

First day in Chiang Mai

... t see this as begging and are grateful to the monk for allowing them to make merit by giving food. For a monk to refuse is seen as being very rude. Some more monk trivia... they are required to shave their heads and eybrows and are not allowed to wear underwear under their robes- in case you ever wondered. Roaming the temple grounds there were several stray dogs lying about the area. I ...

Back to the concrete jungle

... We were then taken back to our guesthouse where we said bye to our fellow travelers and had a welcome shower. We wandered down to the airport plaza again in high spirits where we had a pizza and a bit of air-con! Then we bought some cake and went to eat it and relax in our room (which, by the way, they upgraded to a 'suite' room which had a kind of balcony and a nicer fan!) We packed up ready to go to KL in the morning.

... and fight there full time. One guy used to train in Ottawa at the Beaver Boxing club.

The next day we set out on a jungle trek for 2 days and one night. It involved trekking, an elephant excursion, bamboo rafting, white water rafting, and various stops in tribal villages. Our group had 19 people, which was a little to big. The trekking was rather easy compared to previous treks in South America. It was still amazing scenery in ...

New year in Chiang Mai

... with the heat and the poor quality bikes, Me and Tiley got a bit competetive as usual and tried racing for a bit, Banj had the best idea tho he got a lift in a pick up truck and met us at the end. I remembered that i don't really like the elephant riding from the lastr time i was in Thailand, i think its pretty cruel to just make an animal ferry tourists around all day, luckily it was only for an hour tho. Rafting and Relaxing

... couldn't have been more than a foot deep we seemed to glide effortlessly over top of it. I think we rafted for about an hour and a half, only stopping because there was a small concrete dam that had been erected in front of us. In fact, I think this was the most favorite part of the trek for me and I wished that it could have been twice as long. No wildlife was glimpsed on our ride down the river but it was just so relaxing to be floating along and to be able to listen to ...
