Abruptly slapped awake by the frigid air in the tent, I scrambled around in the darkness struggling to squeeze into my winter bike tights. One a trip organized by the Mount Holyoke Outing club, I climbed my first hike ever! Day one we climbed Owls peak, approximately a 4 hours hike. Day 2, we climbed Mt. Fireplace mantles that graced a single enormous chimney in three living areas. A wrap-a-round porch with the dinner bell and a luscious view of lawn and lake. I had been away for a long, long time and for the next 16 hours I was home. ...

... rewarded with thrilling down hill adventures. The scenery was punctuated by dramatic, long views of neighboring mountain ranges lined up in a row. Here in the Adirondacks, I feel like Surly and I are hitched on a roller coaster billowing over randomly arranged domes. As I spin through the forest of pine, cedar and hemlocks, my view is the next bend in the road. I can only see the mountain tops gracing ...
