Room with a view

... back to treat ourselves to a full body massage for an hour! Sadly instead of a Nepalese beauty I ended up with a young boy! Still he did the job.

Again the next day we started gently, it’s not every day you can watch the sunrise over mount Everest from your hotel room! Then a quick hike through the town of Nagarkot was followed by yet another failed attempt to photo an eagle while relaxing on the sun terrace. I now ...

3 Days In and I'm Doing Well

... pleased, but after spending 30 minutes doing what I know as Kundalini (lots of heavy breathing,) I thought perhaps she had fibbed as a way of getting me in. Then we did a "warm up" which was jumping around the room and moving our arms in different combinations while listening to Nepali techno. Felt like their version of aerobics. The final 25 minutes were spent doing some poses that I recognized. Since I was the only Westerner in the room she kept looking at me asking ...

Another update while I have the chance!

... horn is all they need. A couple of times they have been so close that they have actually brushed my arm as they passed. I suppose without the puddles to dodge there would be more opportunity to get out of their way but I am reluctant to get my feet wet!
Yesterday began wet but cleared up and although it has rained overnight this morning looks brighter. I gave in yesterday and bought a "knock off" North Face “gortex” jacket ...

Angels and Demon Mosquitos

... was "dzt, dzzzzt, dzzzzt, dzt, dzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt. Man did I ever wish my friend Matt, who would spend an hour killing every last mosquito in a place before we'd go to sleep, was here on this night!

My choices were getting bitten on every square inch of my entire body or sleeping under a furry blanket in 28 degree heat, and opening the screen less window was NOT an option. These choices left me with little sleep so I feel fantastic today.

Roaming around Kathmandu and Surroundings

Hi All, For those of you who work in art related professions - namely Brett, Catherine, Patricia, Jon, Kevin, Ruthie, Allen, Stephanie, Margie, Hanne - your husband Craig - if you haven't read Lewis Hyde's classic book 'The Gift: Creativity and the Artist in the Modern World,' I strongly recommend you immediately stop reading this blog now (!) and take a walk over to your local bookstore for a copy. ;) Its been a joy for me to read on this trip and I ...

Trek Chisopani to Nagarkot - Trekking gets easier

After a good night sleep, my legs and feet had recovered somewhat. While not all trekkers had porters, the ones that did, the porter was carrying a decent sided pack, I was glad for travelling relatively light. Today we initially headed along the mountain range along 4 wheel drive type tracks with more sedate rises and falls. When my breathing went too high I simply shortened and slowed my steps. After 2 hours we turned off ...

Relaxation and World Heritage City

Next morning we checked out of the hotel again and took a mini tourist bus to Nagarkot, about one and half hours from Kathmandu. It lies at an altitude of 2175 meters and is located 30 km north-east of capital city, kathmandu. It is the second highest point on the valley rim, that offers you the great views of Himalayas, breathtaking mountain scenery and magnificent sunrise and sunset. Among all the places for mountain viewing in the kathmandu valley ...

... was Everest. But apart from the view is small town also contains "The hotel at the end of the universe". Better still, it has a restaurant. So I can now say that "I have been to the restaurant (at the hotel) at the end of the universe". Sci-fi geeks eat your heart out.
