Lot 977 Pantai Cenang, Mukim Kedawang Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia, 07000
Finally, Steve was able to get away for the long weekend. I found cheap tickets to Langkawi on Tiger Airways (going to Bangkok in Nov as well). So we spent four days roaming around the beautiful island.
We wanted to stay around Cenang as there's a lot to do/eat and it's a popular beach. I didn't want to spend much on a hotel b/c we wouldn't be there hardly at all. For that location though, I'd recommend choosing Sunset Beach Resort just south at Tengah as it's all within walking distan...
For those who dont know Langkawi is an island at the very top of Malaysia on the west coast right on the boarder of Thailand - you can actually see Thailand from the island. Its also a duty free island, not that is has much to do with anything, but a lot of islands off the mainland are this way. My arrival went smoothly until I got to where i was trying to go (pentai Cenang - pronounced che-nang - which was the main beach on Langkawi). I didnt know that I arrived at the very beginning of a 3 ...
Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia phillthomas... day yesterday, Gary opened his pressies in the morning, T-shirt from me and a Mars and Cashew Nuts from Ted, he was well chuffed. After a good breakfast we met up with the other two and hit the beach. As there is an airshow in town we had a few surprises through out the day, one of them was a helicopter landing on the beach next to us, which apart from creating a massive sand storm also sent an inflatable banana boat hurtling out ...
Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia carsonsontour2... see loads of English faces sitting around so we sat down for a chat. The topic of conversation as we joined the table was genital warts; the day was now great. George went to Kingston university so we had some chat about Kingston and Oceana etc. We all went to the beach for the afternoon after the storm as it was now blisteringly hot again, and the sea was bath temperature. In the evening we went down the main street and had a curry.

Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia chiyoda99YAY! We had our lovely nervous reunion in Satun ferry port and it was good! Biggest smiles ever :) Then we all jumped in a Sangtheow back Pakbara and haggled for our speedboat prices from hat lady we'd met earlier in the week. Then the heavens opened and it started ******* it down, and we had to get on the speedboat to Lipe for an hour or so, we all just sat there shivering and soaked and ...
Ko Lipe, Thailand danandkate... morning we unzipped the tent and ran straight into the sea. What luxury! After a delicious ands huge breakfast (lots of bacon, to David's delight) we hiked up the hill on the island to see the view. It was not a particularly high hill, but it was hard work in the heat. We saw a monkey trying to open a bottle of water but not succeeding in twisting the lid, rather trying to bite it! At the top we had a great view over the island and the ...

Clearly I didn't and moved on swiftly. There was an old bunker that would have held gun powder and such but I didn't go in as I've had enough of smelly dirty places. There were old prison cells that had the history of Penang, which up to the mid 1500s had no inhabitants. It had the history of the Sultans and then the British in Penang and ...
Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia alandrach... typical Sparks, everything is so black an white, but it has a potential for a good romantic movie (we'll see what Richard Gere and Diane Lane can do) The Shadow of the Wind (by a Spanish writer Zafon) - great mystery book, I was afraid sometimes to read it alone in the dark The Partner (by John Grisham) - am finishing it just now. Good. Like. But it's typical Grisham ...
