... Very cool. After about 2 hours of driving we made our way to Petra, another 7K's of walking, so all in all, Cody and I walked 21 K's in 2 days! We made our way through the high walls of rock passing beautiful coloured rock and canyon, horses and chariots galloping by us every few minutes. we finally made it to the crack where The treasury is revealed, absolutely amazing! The amount of work that these men put ...
Petra, Ma'an, Jordan giselleandcody... your every day taxi is in fact luxury limousine, hey I might watch the television flat screen whilst I head to my hotel, scores of shows to view easily paid for with the mobile credit card facility.... err this was a bit more advanced than I imagined it to be.
Arrived at hotel which was the middle eastern version of the "The Shining", hello, anyone here in this hotel apart from me? Hello? Hello?? Luckily lots of people arrived later on - the next day ...
... no map. Shona while hoping for the best and with a little help from a young Bedouin we soon found ourselves back in familiar territory.
We were shattered after two days of hiking between 6-7 hours each day, so off we went in search of some food. Dino asked for the lonely planet as he had read about some good kebabs. Shona then let him in on the secret she had left it at home, with the map of Petra in it. By this time he was to tired and hungry to care.
... 2!) and took the long (but definitely worthwhile) walk up to the monastery and sacrificial high places.
Definitely a highlight of the tour so far and well worth a visit!
En route we also had a quick float in the Dead Sea and walked up to Mt Nebo for the awesome shots of the Promised land as viewed by Moses (apparently). All very biblical lol.
Richy :)
(Day 6, Petra, Jordan) Our "breakfast bags" full of bread, jam, cheese, and vegetables were waiting for us, as were cups for the thermos of hot tea, as the reception desk at Bait Ali, since we were going to leave even before they began to serve breakfast at 7:15 a.m.; our cab was waiting at 7:00 a.m., as ordered, so we could get to Petra early. Petra is one of the "new seven wonders of the world," an ancient Nabatean city carved into the massive stone facades many ...
Wadi Musa, Jordan brisko... when you get on one it is lying down then it starts to get up with its back feet and then its front. Its sort of like a ride that is real, to tell the truth it was really uncomfortable I could not stand the itchiness of the blanket covering the camel. Well at night we served a meal by the mother of the guy that owns the hotel. It was really uhmmy! After dinner me and Isaac watched the last crusader on the TV. Petra, Jordan grossmanjh... knew that the bus cost 5 Dina to Petra so we were not going to pay much more. One driver offered us 7 Dina to take us there as he lives there and came from there to drop people off so if he didn't take us for cheap he might be going home empty handed so in the end we jumped in and go there in one piece, he was actually a nice guy. When we arrived in to Wadi Musa which is basically the town for Petra we headed to Valentine Inn which is a cheap backpackers seems a ...
Wadi Musa, Jordan richardcowleyDecided last night not to go to Wadi Rum as it sounds a bit awkward going by myself and potentially expensive. What I should have done is gone straight to Wadi Musa where the ancient city of Petra is with the Koreans and Japanese, as it would have saved me a lot of money, and organized a tour there. So instead what I did was to head to the minibus station in Aqaba at 7 in the morning. Got some cash out of the ATM and no problem so hopefully that visa issue has been resolved.
