day ended with a protein feast.
      Heading to the airport on
the last day of my stay in Tobago was an adventure. I had booked a
local cab to pick me up at 8am...but as kind of expected the cab
didn't turn up and the driver couldn't be reached on his mobile. This
meant that I just had to walk along the road hoping for some
unofficial cab to stop at the road side and give me a ride. Luckily I
      had planned ...

What a great change after eight days in the busy city. Port of Spain wasn't all that bad, but a tire of crowds in a hurry. Rather than an $8 slow ferry ride after sunset, where you're not going to see anything anyway; I opted for the $24 plane ride with Caribbean Airlines. Besides, why waste a ...

Monday afternoon I will take the ferry from Port of Spain to Scarborough, Tobago. Not that I have a plan, but tentatively I plan to go pretty much clockwise around the island for the next 3 weeks. Tobago is known for better beaches way less people, some great diving and snorkeling. Internet will be a little more spotty. ...

... at Elsie's for lunch. Not possible to get more authentic Creole food than this. I felt like CNN's Anthony Bordain. We had a homemade Patella, with fresh coconut bread. She makes her own curry, and a spice called Chutney made from Mangos, garlic, black pepper, and chiles. WOW ! There is only seating for four so Elsie has but one rule, "Eat or get along" (no liming, hanging out, or BS'n).

... to the West Indies (tourism was huge back when the West Indies were a major cricketing force in the 1970s). Airlines are increasing the regularity of flights and taxi drivers are being licensed and required to charge standard rates. The main attractions are snorkelling, visiting waterfalls in the rainforest and attending "Sunday School" (not what you think). Tobago also attracts a lot of bird watchers due ...
