... and certainly not in Mexico. There were so many Israeli students, we would call the place right outside the library where they would all hang out, "Little West Bank" or the "Gaza Strip". It still makes me laugh and I remember some of my Israeli friends dearly. The fact that they all planned to go back to Israel to do their military service (girls and boys), still impresses me.

Sitting on our balcony sipping cold water (not allowed to make coffee or tea, if you remember) we watched as 3.30pm came and went and the lines of passengers re-boarding dwindled to a trickle and as the minutes passed, the walking the pace of the people still boarding speeded up. Afterwards we tried to find Pelican Beach to try to do some shelling but when we got there we found an eroded cliff. ... journey Sunday afternoon, first flying to Vancouver and then Sam Francisco. As my flight from San Francisco to Newark was overbooked, there was nearly a riot at the gate. Luckily I already had my boarding pass, which was highly coveted and more valued than a Willy Wonka golden ticket. I didn't count myself lucky until I was actually on the flight and we were taking off, as I was worried about some awful last-minute change of plans. Sadly, 30 people were left to ...
