... snow. They both loved to jump into the deep drifts and then bouce out of them, very cute to see. After an hour or so of walking I was cold and wet (more that one fall) and so I paid the $12 to go back to my hostel. I sat upstairs in the cozy lounge in a big chair next to the fire while it snowed outside and read my book - bliss.

The next morning I caught the shuttle the 1 hour down the road to Banff and enjoyed more mountains, lakes and forests ...

... on our walk to Lake Kinney - a fairly easy walk with not too much elevation gain. We had the Robson river rushing next to us, and our newly acquired bear bells jangling with every step for company.

The river was that milky blue colour of all glacial streams. It's so pretty to look at but you wouldn't want to fall in as most are only 4-7 degrees C! Saw lots of big things along the way, big fungus, big trees, big mosquitoes, ...

We got to Grande Prairie after noon and were amazed at how big the place was, 55000 people. ... this route. I had no idea they grew this far north! Some of them are huge, not lower mainland huge but large none the less. It was awesome to see lush rich green forests, where not far away are the ravaged red forests of pine beetle kill. ... done???? Not a lot!!! Hidden from the mosi's in the town or our tent, it is a small town with not a lot to do so it has meant a lot of walking round aimlessly, we have been in every shop in Jasper, a few good shopping opportunities ladies but my purse didn't stretch t the boutique clothes on this occasion, and nursing cups of coffee or snacks.
