Historical Traveler Reviews of Mgm Grand Las Vegas
Too much to see too little time
from A TripAdvisor Member
My finace and myself stayed at the MGM Grand on January 7-11, and we could not possibly see everything that they had to offer. The city of Las Vegas itself is gorgeous. That was our first time visiting. It was so beautiful until we plan to visit every year. The hotel was a city within itself. We did try to see all that it had to offer and it was so much that we didn't see because it was too little time.
Great Experience

My husband and I stayed here October 2002 for our anniversary. Check in was quick. Tipped the girl $10 and she gave us a room on the 26th floor with a great view. The room was clean and spacious. It is really huge, but it has great maps to help you find your way around. We only gambled for a few hours the first night we got there. We had a great drink hostess. Gave her a two dollar tip after the first round. She was super quick and came back about every five minutes to see if we needed a re-fill. Overall great experience. Only negative was the exit to the parking garage was hard to navigate and the hallway got a bit noisy a couple of times with people coming back to their rooms late at night.
Grand Buffet

Four of us ate at the MGM Grand Buffet last Thursday, and I promise the dessert bar was the best. The food buffet was good, but the desserts actually tasted as good as they looked. The fresh strawberries were to die for and the sugar free desserts were wonderful!
Do the right thing

I just returned from my second stay at the MGM. I feel I have a good handle on this resort. If you do the right thing its the best place to be. First--read the signs, its a big place but if you read the signs it becomes smaller. Room--spend the extra money on the Grand tower, the Emerald tower is Holiday Inn quality with LONG halls to travel. Food--the buffet is ok the restaurants are great, must go to Coyote Cafe. Gambling--this place is huge and all the tables are not used unless its a very busy night, so get to your table early (by7pm). Sportsbook/Racebook---the employees are great, let them help you. Players club--don't be cool join this club, free stuff will follow. Bottom line--visit other places but join players club at MGM and do your gambling there, collect the free meals etc and have fun.
Loved the mgm, pricy and rude people at front dest and in casinos

nice room and accomadations. staff seem to be burned out or just dont care. We come a couple times a year but are going to check out other hotels to see what we are missing. We work too hard for our money and no, we are not high rollers but make decent money and come to spend it. We kept money flowing througout your hotel. No, not thousands and thousands of dollars but I think it's the middle class working people that keep vegas going. We could have spent more at MGM but got tired of the low moral of staff and sometimes just plain nasty attitudes throughout our 5 day stay.
Thanks for listening and your time.
We will be in Vegas on Jan5 thru the 8 Maybe we will drop in .
Sincerely,

MGM

I recently returned from my first time trip to Las Vegas. It was
fabulous! We stayed at the MGM Grand, which is a super hotel. Yes, it
IS very big, but all you have to do is look up! They have signs
everywhere that tell you what direction things are in. The only thing I
wish was that MGM was a little more in the "middle" of the strip, like
say, where Bellagio is. Go the Stratosphere (not to stay, ugh! old and
dirty) to ride the "Big Shot" ride--909 feet above ground!! Go to
Madame Tussauds at the Venetian (but dont expect the same level of wow
you get at the London one). Take a gondola ride, or stroll through the
Venetian, and especially the Bellagio, too (the conservatory!) PLEASE,
unless you went strictly to gamble, DONT stay in the casino all day!
Get out and go sightseeing! Hoover Dam, it's wow! Valley of Fire State
park-AMAZING! Gamble if you want, but blow your $$ on worthwhile
things!!

in the last 24 mos, i have visited vegas 4 times, twice at the Tropicana(horrible), and twice at the M.G.M. (last week) they attempted to steer me to a more expensive room stating that it would be closer to the elevator. didn't take it , lucky because it was a flat out lie. no comps for frequent visitor, turneme down when we asked for breakfast buffet comp. but hotel was clean, food was good, service was exceptional. Danny Gans show at the Mirage was overpriced and under talented. Legends at the Greek Isles was great, only has about 50 slot machines. Rick Thomas theater at the YTropicana needs a serious makeover. Siefried?Roy too expensive.
Wow! We loved the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino
from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I just returned from a brief vacation in Vegas. We were delighted to stay at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino and we definitely plan to stay there again in the future.
Folks, let me tell you...everything was totally awesome here. Our beautiful, spacious room was immaculate and we enjoyed a perfect view of the strip.
We were extremely pleased by the first class service and the friendly, upbeat hotel staff.
There is so much energy and activity here, which is really what Vegas is about.
I was pleasantly surprised at how well the hotel is maintained, especially being that they have a huge volume of hotel guests on a regular.
With its central location on the Vegas strip, the exciting atmosphere and reasonable rates, we recommend the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino as a first class place to stay and play!!!
Huge, Huge very Huge

We stayed in MGM Grand Tower for two nights and enjoyed it very much. The whole family love to go back there again. Kids like the pool, youth activity center, restaurant and the room very much. We all had fun that we want to go back again. Although it is very huge and lots of walking inside the hotel before you get to your other destination. I still love it. You get to walk inside and not outside under the sun and heat. Every exit leads you to your destination. Like if you want to go to New York New York Hotel or Tropicana to watch the magic show just walk inside and use one of the nearest exit to the other hotel that will save you to walk under the sun. I love that. Shopping, is only around the corner, use the Tour & Travel exit it will leads you to Grand Canyon Gift shop and store. Boy, I love that hotel.
Too Big
from A TripAdvisor Member
We just returned from Las Vegas and stayed at MGM Grand. The tub was stopped up, the room was so very far from the elevator, we hated to leave knowing we had such a walk. I guess we are spoiled over the casinos in LA where they aren't so large. We are also spoiled about having the convenience of coffee makers in the room. We really missed having a few cups of coffee before the long walk to the elevator. I also felt cut off from the "strip". The last time I stayed at Harrah's where you can walk out the door to the "strip" I couldn't really determine where the front of MGM was. To get to the striip, you had to go through a lot of automated walking....hot metal. I just felt like the hotel was too big as most of the new ones are.
