Historical Traveler Reviews Messonghi Beach Resort Moraitika

Great 2 weeks but a bad hotel

    from

I just returned from Greece today the 28th of June.

The travel agent assured me of a high standard hotel.

The food was like that of the old school canteen, the rooms were dirty, no tv, air con, or fridge.

I did enjoy the pool but the beach was a let down.

The entertainment was likened to a 2 week eurovision sog contest hell. 3 tv rooms but none of them sky, NOT WHAT THE BROCHURE SAYS

If you are booked here, go to the travel agent and change NOW

    Worst week of our lives

    from

Have just returned from this hotel and wonder if we stayed at the same place as others who have reviewed it. The hotel rooms (we had 2) were dirty, I had to go out and buy bleach and disinfectant, the toilet was so unhealthy looking, our room had a rather large beetle population, not very pleasant. The food was of a very poor standard, meal times were awful, everyone pushing and shoving, having to fight for a table, crockery was always running out. We have never experienced anything like it. The water sports never seemed to have anyone in charge, the beach seemed dirty. I can sum the whole place up in one word - dreadful

    Loved messonghi beach corfu

    from

stayed for a week in july 2003had a great time lots to do especially for kids as we have a 6 year old.food wasnt great but the complex and pools made up for that.moritkia village was great for gift shopping and tavernas for beer for adults with large icecreams for kids.messonghi village approx 500 metres on right hand side KIDS WORLD a definate must if you have kids 3 euros for kids gets them unlimited fun and a drink while mum and dads relak and have a drink .

    Best holiday of a lifetime

    from

i absoloutly adored it,it was the best holiday ive ever had.ive been to 28 different countries and ive never had as much fun as messonghi beach hotel.my daughter loved every waking moment of it,it is deffinately a friendly family based holiday.there are beach parties, daily entertainment, discos, mini kidz discos, kids clubs,7 or more pools, activities all day long,it is the most beautiful place ive ever seen, arcade and games room, fitness club throughout the day, beauty salon and much much more the list goes on.every 30 min,a kidz animator drives a free train around the whole site for the kidz and its great.all the staff are friendly, its situated right on a beautiful beach with beach activities on all day long and a beach restaurant, buses running all the time to the town and lots of excursions.the foods gorgeous and the rooms are beautiful each with a private balcony.there is so much do and it is like paradise, you dont even have to leave the sight if you dont want because its all there for you however ifyou do want to visit other places there are local buses operating all the time or the beautiful town of moratika is a 2 min walk away.i would religiously advise anyone to go and share this experience cuz its totally worth it especially if uv got kids cus they will love it.enjoy your holiday!

    Ideal for Families

    from

I visited this resort in August 2002 with my family. This in my opinion is ideal for families, lots to do activities arranged on site and a kids club which is well organised. The complex itself is very clean and the internet cafe on site is useful should you need it. The food is very good a buffet style arrangement with a varied choice of food, my daughter who was 11 at the time loved it. The room we had was very clean, well decorated and quite spacious. The beach is ideal and a short walk along it brings you to a number of bars that have greek dancing and entertainment on an evening, also you can walk to the beach and get a boat trip very easily. The evening entertainment is quite varied. we enjoyed this place so much that I have booked another holiday for July 2004

    Fantastic Venue

    from

I have been going to the hotel since 1992, first with friends, then with my partner and now with my family. Each visit (now 7) the hotel and facilities have improved. Our last visit was August 2003. Messonghi and Moraitika provide an ideal location for a holiday. Lots of lovely restaurants, The Roase Garden being excellent, plenty of small friendly bars with music and one or two discos. The beach on this side of the island is sand and shale with a shallow slope inot the sea which is calm making it ideal for children. Cleanliness at the hotel is very good, rooms basic but adequate for your needs, pools and facilites extensive. Many bars, cafes etc.. on site. Children's entertainment very good, water sports etc etc. The locals are friendly and ever willing to help. A+++++

    Good ratio quality/price

    from

The resort is huge and located at the border of the city of Moraitika.

There is a long avenue (with security guards) before entering the hotel from the road (300 Mts) Lots of people from everywhere. Near of the hotel, you can rent cars, scooters, take the bus. It is not an isolated site.

Positive points : excellent food, varied, performing airco and silent, 4 swimming pools, hotel near from bars and shop of Moraitika (5' by foot)

Negative points : Restaurant not conditionned and crowded. Lots of noise early in the morning (people leaving). If you are near of the swimming pool, lots of noise during the night due to people diving at 1 or 2 AM !! Sono from animation do not stop before 11:30 PM. Lots of seaweeds in the sea.

To summarise : Don't go there if you want relaxing holidays. Otherwise, the site is clean with lots of palm trees, rooms are OK but not very luxuous. Price is very interesting.

    Great resort

    from

was there july 2003 ,the beach hotel catered more for the germans and other europeans rather than british holiday makers, the food was nice but was the same 8 main meals buffet style every night , same at breakfast time , the adult entertainment was rubbish, the drink was about average price wise ,best going into town a 10 minute walk , visit the rose garden for an excellent meal, we where agroup of 5 adults , looking for a relaxing holiday and we really liked the place ,and would recommend it , we have some photos, the beach is nice although a lot of shingle and seaweed in places, dont go in july as the temp soared to 100 in the shade ,unbearable in the noon , the grounds are lovely ,feel free to email me for any info related, that you may wish if you are going there.

    EXCELLENT HOTEL

    from

I stayed in Messonghi Beach Hotel in July 2001 and in July 2002. I will go to this hotel also in July 2003. Because it is really really good for holidays. The weather is always warm. The food is perfect (mostly continental). Staff is very helpful and friendly. There is some fun for all day - aerobics, greek lessons, dance lessons, many sports (voleyball, football, table tenis, tenis...). In the evenings there is also a special programme (greek night, beach party, bingo, disco...). There are some good bars in the hotel. There is also very good fish restaurant. Children can go to the playground, there are kids discos, sunday party with Mickey Mouse and many others.Messonghi Beach is really good choice for you.Jana Simkova from Pribram, Czech Republic

    Great Family Holiday Location

    from

I took my family to Messonghi Beach Hotel in August 2000 for a 2 week holiday. On first impressions the complex is vast and very welcoming. The people are on the hole very friendly and keen to help. I was rather disappointed at the first room we were offered as there were no bunk beds for my two daughters both under 10 years of age, and no dounle be, jsut 4 single beds. I did complain immediately and I was moved to a family room with double bed and bunk beds. The rooms are basis, but clean. The toilet system in Corfu is antiquated and takes a while to get used to. Once we had settled into our room we explored the complex, which is beatiful. Set in green gardens and flowers. There are numerous pools, but we headed straight for the beech. Just one word, TERRIFIC. No current, not deep ideal for children. Great for snorkling and playing with a bucket and spade. My daughter even caught a sea horse in her bucket. The water is very warm and the weather hot. Evenings are varied with the entertainment team working hard. The food is also varied and plentiful. Breakfast are continental but there are some good english cafes close by with great bacon and eggs. All in all this destination is fine for families looking for rest and relaxation. There are a number of clubs a short walk away. I have booked to return this August and I am really looking forward to it.

... after a short training run through the village; white pebbles, crystal blue water, warm temps but not extreme, no wonder we have had a few training swims in these waters to date, just superb. After a relax back in our apartment we glanced over a few menus and decided on a restaurant that was alit with the glow from a full moon (no, not mine). The food was amazing (amaze balls to the Gen X’s reading this) and the red wine (wine is served ...

... br> clad men ....and women! (Who were only slightly less hairy than the men (-; )
We cruised into the Blue Caves carved out from the limestone of the coastline
and then headed to the most pristine, ice blue, clear water I have ever seen
for a swim. I felt like I was in a scene from the Blue Lagoon. We sailed down a
narrow neck lined with tiny colourful boats and into Gaios Harbour on Paxos

Aug. 30: Gouvia, Corfu to Ereikoussa island

The day started out at a warm 82 degrees, in deadly still air between the two boats on either side of us that continue to make Milena feel like the center of a sandwich. The first thing we had to do after leaving our slip, is to fill up the boat with plenty of gas to get us to Taormina ---- many miles away. We had to wait for a while for the boat that was there to move... So this delayed our true departure about 1/2 hour. Once we filled our two tanks, we ...

Getting all muddled up with country's now and thought I was in a port we will be in in a couple of days. On track now and we are in Corfu today. We are just watching the ship channel trying to get it all to sink in. I'm excited we get a full day in venice again at the end if the cruise. Had a good night mixing with fellow cruisers and have met a few through dinner table seating. Walking down the corridor last night we could wave to quite ...

... take a coach for our tour around this part of Albania. Traffic is busy, don't park, just stop.
We are given a bit of a history lesson from our guide. Albania became a republic in 1993 and has been developing since then from what was once of the poorest countries in Europe. The drive through the countryside is pleasant, as we make our way to the ancient town of Butrint.
    We take a ...
