The hotel has one of the best beaches of the high-end hotels. Although the room we had was nice, it did seem a little dated. We were disappointed that there were no English channels on the television, just movies.

This hotel is definitely looking run down and needs a complete face lift, but that is not why I have given it a one-star rating. They had a jazz festival on the grounds the last night of our stay in Papeete and the festival literally took over the whole hotel. The manager was no where to be found (as he was reportedly enjoying the festival). Finally, at 1:30 am, the festival ended and all the paying guests had a sleepless night. We've never experienced such blatant disregard for guests.

Our trip to Tahiti is one of the oddest trips I have ever made, for one reason in particular; our travels took us to yesterday! We left New Zealand on Monday morning. We arrived in Pape'ete, Tahiti on Sunday evening. That is what happens when one travels to the east across the International Date Line.

Well before our trip began, we applied …

... where we were going and she spoke to us. We think she was telling us that we were at the right place for the bus, it should be soon and that she wished her English was better. The bus journey! What an experience. The bus was packed with locals, the bus driver told us we couldn't get on at the front door with the case so Matty got on and paid and I dragged the case to the middle doors. The bus was rammed. I stood there and looked at the 3 steps up and figured there was no room for ...

... off to tour the island for a few days and Tina, Clive & Mona arrived in Papeete late last night. They are coming to the yacht around midday. I’m so looking forward to seeing Tina again. It has been our longest separation in probably close to 30 years. Maureen is out getting supplies this morning. I’m back on station at the yacht waiting for call-backs from mechanics etc. Hopefully we’ll get to explore the island during the later part of the ...

... open! We saw people from every corner of the earth and travelers going to every continent... We saw a bunch of monks, which is funny because they have shaved heads except a spot on the back of their heads, and they wear a sheet and blanket wrapped around them. We get through our layover, and board our jumbo jet plane. The seats are really tight, but we managed to get a few hours sleep even though there was a 2 year old squealing like a pig for ...
