This hotel is definitely looking run down and needs a complete face lift, but that is not why I have given it a one-star rating. They had a jazz festival on the grounds the last night of our stay in Papeete and the festival literally took over the whole hotel. The manager was no where to be found (as he was reportedly enjoying the festival). Finally, at 1:30 am, the festival ended and all the paying guests had a sleepless night. We've never experienced such blatant disregard for guests.

Many thoughts about the end of our trip have gone through my mind these last few weeks of our trip. Conversations with myself about what I have learned on this voyage, what surprised me, which of my views have changed, what the kids will take away with them from these adventures, the …

... we took another nap. We decided on room service tonight and what a good choice. Dennis said it was the best room service meal he has ever had. He had pasta carbonara and I had French onion soup and a California salad. All dishes were superb The room service waiter was very cute and very nice. Tonight we will prepare for boarding the ship and enjoy our champagne. Ah,, the French!!!

For me the trip has not been plain sailing, I’ve been in the wars and will go as far as to say that on occasion it was quite an effort avoiding eye contact with the grim reaper. I’ve suffered from sea-sickness, heat exhaustion, a stomach bug (or a dodgy vol-au-vent on ...

... our bags under a very strong sun. When we arrived, we immediately changed clothes to even more summery stuff and we left the hotel with three objectives for the day: 1. Have lunch, 2. Go to Papeete's market, and 3. Have dinner at one of the food trucks on the square. We can do everything on foot and, while we are walking, John picks up flowers for our hair. I have just realized that "tipanier" flower is called ...
