This hotel is definitely looking run down and needs a complete face lift, but that is not why I have given it a one-star rating. They had a jazz festival on the grounds the last night of our stay in Papeete and the festival literally took over the whole hotel. The manager was no where to be found (as he was reportedly enjoying the festival). Finally, at 1:30 am, the festival ended and all the paying guests had a sleepless night. We've never experienced such blatant disregard for guests.

Many thoughts about the end of our trip have gone through my mind these last few weeks of our trip. Conversations with myself about what I have learned on this voyage, what surprised me, which of my views have changed, what the kids will take away with them from these adventures, the …

... the voyage I embedded myself in the daily Tahitian dance classes and was very pleased that I’d taken ballet lessons as a little girl. I recognised most of the French and following was easy. Note to self: I must dance more often. Towards the end of the trip there was a Polynesian night arranged and we were top of the bill. It was really good fun dancing in front of all the friends I’d made and I’m pleased to say these hips can now hula like a ...

... we knew. It was paradise until we took it too far and tried to use the hotels pool and were asked for our room numbers and told that we couldn't swim there. Needless to say we went back the next day and laughed at the posh people paying thousands of dollars to stay there when we just paid a $30 ferry fee and enjoyed the same tropical fish nibbling our toes as they did on their pedicured tootsies. Over all we had a great time in Tahiti and Moorea. Bring on stop number to ...

... s because it is Happy Hour. Well, who can resist a half price cocktail.

Later we have dinner at the resort. As we are leaving the restaurant a beautiful white cat makes a grand entrance down the staircase leading to reception. It glides elegantly down like a supermodel. No wonder it is called a catwalk. It is very friendly and starts to follow us to our room but then it wanders off on its own graceful way. Pity as we could have done with some feline ...

... attention to us. Don had a chance to try out his new under-water camera, as you can see in the pictures.

I was really touched by our big guide, Marco, who went to the handicapped man to support him so that he could experience touching the rays. It was such an act of kindness, and his wife was thrilled because she was able to have the same experience. She mentioned that she thought they would have to stay ...
