This hotel is definitely looking run down and needs a complete face lift, but that is not why I have given it a one-star rating. They had a jazz festival on the grounds the last night of our stay in Papeete and the festival literally took over the whole hotel. The manager was no where to be found (as he was reportedly enjoying the festival). Finally, at 1:30 am, the festival ended and all the paying guests had a sleepless night. We've never experienced such blatant disregard for guests.

Many thoughts about the end of our trip have gone through my mind these last few weeks of our trip. Conversations with myself about what I have learned on this voyage, what surprised me, which of my views have changed, what the kids will take away with them from these adventures, the …

... open! We saw people from every corner of the earth and travelers going to every continent... We saw a bunch of monks, which is funny because they have shaved heads except a spot on the back of their heads, and they wear a sheet and blanket wrapped around them. We get through our layover, and board our jumbo jet plane. The seats are really tight, but we managed to get a few hours sleep even though there was a 2 year old squealing like a pig for ...

... luggage arrived around 3 or 3:30. After unpacking, Bob and I took a walk along the water. It was still hot especially under the sun. We were hoping to find Bob a pair of sandals, but all stores were closed by noon on Saturday. The sole of one of his sandals seems to be falling apart. I wanted to get him a 2nd pair of sandals before we left, he refused. But he did not know this pair had the problem. I guess he would have to wear this broken pair of sandals all ...

... for a surprise dinner they were going to cook for us. They planned on the go and they did not let us see what they were doing. What a great surprise. They set a nice table with candles and our famous red tablecloth (100% Polyester, Made in China, bought at Wal-Mart in Las Vegas the day we took the motorhome). Plus, they prepared it quite quickly and without making too much mess in the kitchen, well, only ...
