This hotel is definitely looking run down and needs a complete face lift, but that is not why I have given it a one-star rating. They had a jazz festival on the grounds the last night of our stay in Papeete and the festival literally took over the whole hotel. The manager was no where to be found (as he was reportedly enjoying the festival). Finally, at 1:30 am, the festival ended and all the paying guests had a sleepless night. We've never experienced such blatant disregard for guests.

Many thoughts about the end of our trip have gone through my mind these last few weeks of our trip. Conversations with myself about what I have learned on this voyage, what surprised me, which of my views have changed, what the kids will take away with them from these adventures, the …

... at least three restaurants plus an immense reception area with vast numbers of sofas. It had countless cabanas over the ocean. All very luxurious but we were pleased that we were staying at a smaller but really no less luxurious hotel. Ours feels more personal. Having wandered around we made our way to the Dolphin Centre and changed into our swim wear. We had booked a session where we could go into the water with a dolphin while a trainer told us all about them. The dolphin was ...

... went down to the theatre only to find no one there. When we went over to reception and were told it wasn’t on and that if we’d watched the briefing on the TV we were ok.

When we went back to the cabin there was a letter in our letterbox from the safety officer noting that we hadn’t attended the briefing and providing us with instructions on what to do in case we did a Titanic.

Dinner at the Pool Grill again. Delicious.

... Tipanier. We order mahi mahi with a fantastic vanilla sauce. We have never enjoyed vanilla the way we do here. Its flavor is so subtle and fresh! Actually, we love all the sauces from this restaurant. I think we mentioned it before but the culinary experience in French Polynesia is outstanding due to the freshness of the fish and fruits, and the combination of French and Tahitian cooking traditions. Chapeau!
