... my wish for making a better world is to have dedicated smoking spots everywhere and a cigarette butt that sticks to the smoker so they cannot drop their "stompies" to spoil the countryside for the rest of us to see.
There were not as many flames as I had expected. Some of the chimneys were smoke tinged but not flaming. Perhaps they hadn't paid their gas bill?

... I was dropped off and waited in a wood shelter, on a bench next to some skinny Turkish rasta kid with a plastic bag of clothing. A small village, set in a valley and popular with the back packer set, Olympos was once an important Lycian city in the 2nd century BC, the remains of which line the 1.5 km track down to the beach. (We are realising that the term ...

    ... milk, quite refreshing!

Our 2nd and last day before our departure, we wandered around the old part of the city of Heraklion a short distance from the port. Heraklion is the capital of Crete, with more remnants of the Venetians, including the recently restored Venetian castle, a famous Morosine Fountain, as well as some good museums. The Historical Museum houses, among other treasures, a couple of paintings by ...
