... a few hesitant turns, it transpired that Stevie had lost her glasses, so the map had not been much help.
Their Garmin satnav was then pressed into service, but I think in putting in just the road name, it was taking us to the western end of the road, ie miles and miles in the wrong direction.
Eventually with all four human and one robotic navigator on the case, we worked it out and sailed into the campus which had had not one sign to help us poor ...

July 17th- I only slept a few hours and was awake at 2:30 with no hope of going back to sleep, so got up. Colored my hair and showered and by 4 AM I was in the car and at a gas station. That took me a while because I could not find the tab to unlock the gas tank!! Finally read the manual and that did not help, and when I dropped something on the floor saw it flush with the floor, a tiny tab that you pull up on! Then I played with the lights getting them ...

There are a number of defunct or retired DC-10's, 747's and other large commercial aircraft parked at KGYR. It's a small "boneyard" compared to a few others in the dry desert climate where a hundred or more old airliners are parked. On my RTW trip, flying from Vanuatu to Pago Pago, I talked to a Quantas crew flying overhead who were ferrying a plane to a boneyard in California. Sad to see all that technology sitting idle.
