Slow news day today as were driving most of the day. Today was a contrast in weather and landscrape. We started in Encinitas in the low 70's and ended up in Arizona at 105 degrees!!! We started at the ocean, traveled through rocks, desert, brown, green, and mountains. ... out of us, 107 in the shade! Whew that's hot. So very little time out of the car! One time we made an exception was at Apache Jct to get an ice-cream, proper stuff not gelati or sno freeze.
The lake is used for pleasure seekers with boats, and today was a blue shade in parts with green in others. But it looked cold despite the heat from the sun!
Tomorrow we'e being taken to Flagstaff to see more of the Grand Canyon.
... grey goose and mixers and just spent the whole night dancing, drinking and being together. When it started closing up, we came back to our hotel, the Travelodge- and continued drinking in another guys room. We have to get up so early tomorrow for our hot air ballooning adventure! It's going to be death as we all had far too much to drink and stayed up way too late!
Well, our average driving day was made so great with such a fabulous night! We love contiki!!
... for the centre. It's surprising that there was more traffic on the Interstate than in the centre of Phoenix. I suppose that's what it's all about really. Maybe Americans just drive on the Interstate all day, not meaning to get anywhere, just driving on it because they can. ... ve been watching the birds in the area and have joined a birding forum to help me identify some of the local birds. I've included a picture of the local Grackles. They have very long tails and are unlike other grackles in Canada but they are very noisy.
