Chiang Dao

Our first trip "up country". We had a wonderful time. We had a short flight from Bkk to Chiang Mai on a discount airline where they have stadium seating. We didn't realize this so we were spread out a bit on the plane. Josey enjoyed the short flight. We traveled by van about an hour and a half north of Chiang Mai to get to our resort. It was beautiful scenery!! We had a bit of rain due to the cyclone over Burma. How unfortunate the devastation from that has been. We brought our nanny Ju with ...

... hot tub was just a sink with cold water. As you can see we lived the high life in THE JUNGLE. After we went to see the local jungle tribes people and to be honest they looked like the average modern people, nothing unusual. However whilst crossing a tiny river to get to them we ended up with leeches attached to our rather hairy legs. It was another close call, the jungle is truely our friend!
Later we all ate together and then sat around a fire singing cheesy songs, one of ...

... Brian. He has been traveling Southeast Asia for awhile and has done so several times. He had just arrived in Chiang Mai from Laos, where I am to visit next. He showed me his pictures. I am now changing my route! Laos looks exactly like Chiang Mai and the country outside of Bangkok... I'm going to Phuket!!! I want a beach and my bikini!
Brian and I decide to visit Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep together. We get a ...

Moving on again

Caught the local bus from the bus station and arrived safely (we checked the driver before setting off so don't worry Ting) an hour and a half later. The guest house is lovely, we are in a bungalow made of teak built up on stilts overlooking the fields and mountains. The food (here we go again) was fantastic, all cooked by a 19 year old lad from the local village. Had a walk but it was a bit too hot so returned ...

Elephant Nature Foundation

Well, I have just come back from the most unforgettable last 2 days. It all started about 6 months ago when I had only just bought my plane ticket and I saw a tiny 8 line piece that someone had written in to the London Lite (free commuter paper in London for those not familiar with it) which had said that if you were to go to Thailand make time to go visit the Elephant Nature Foundation. Below that was included the website http://www.elephantnaturefoundation ...

I Need More Fun Tickets

My time in South East Asia is finished and I need more Fun Tickets....that's what my boss in Alaska calls the U.S. Dollar.

My last stop in Thailand was the hippy, mountain town of Pai. Not alone anymore

Oh my goodness, after 5 days by myself, the farm has exploded with other voluteer farmers, with all of us living together in the same house. Luckily, all of them are very cool! I mean, I've only known most of them for a day or so, but I have enjoyed their company so far. They are all very conscious, nice, people, all of the wandering type, who ...
