... hot plate and it puts me right off, reminding me far too much of what we are eating.

We sat in the bar after dinner and waited for the "entertainment" (I use the word advisedly) to begin. We were at the back of the bar behind the band. This comprised a bass guitarist, a very noisy drummer and a guy with a steel pan, and by golly they were loud. They also masked the "entertainment" when it eventually arrived.

... St. John's was relatively short, and again when we arrived, a taxi driver was waiting to take us to the vacation rental, A La Mer. We didn't need to give our driver directions, because apparently he was our private driver for the week while we'd be staying on the island. The open air, buslike taxi took us directly to our destination. Arriving at A La Mer was unreal. HELLLLLOOOOOOOOO, St. John's.
