'Tis the season to be sunburned ....

... to Lake McKenzie, which is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen - the water was so blue it was incredible. That night we all camped on the beach again, however, after not having quite as much alcohol and with a massive storm above (try cooking stir fry on a beach in the p*ssing rain with winds that literally blow you over - it's fun!) the night was a bit of a nightmare - our tent, which three of us were sharing, completely collapsed in the wind, and rolled down the sand ...

... colour to match the sea floor once they noticed us! We also saw loads of sea turtles, which are not afraid of you and let you swim really close.

Danielle went in after an hour or so but I carried on and saw a shark (about 1m long) and loads more turtles. The crowded boat was not a problem in the water as none of them seemed to be able to swim!

The journey home was uneventful and we got back safely and enjoyed our pasta. One of our best days in Australia.

Agnes Water & 1770

... this is the reef. The Great Barrier Reef is 2,600km long and spans the length of the coastline from here on up, knocking down the waves before they have a chance to reach shore. The icing on the cake is the greater presence of jellyfish in the warmer waters at the top half of the country.

I can confidently say that I achieved basically nothing in my three days here. Marion and I rented a ...

... much fun, general people walking and driving are amazed as a bunch of out of control bikers race around the town and outback, we stop for photo's and so the film crew can get some good shots, Gemma is hilarious, and says 'It is like we are part of a real gang' what a quote! We ride upto some hills on cliff face, overlooking the water and stop for potato wedges that magically appear complete with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce. Awesome! We head back and I am feeling ...

Everybody go surfing......

... Hervey bay (a little tight with us all in the camper van!) and camped for the night at a 4.5* site which was lovely! Again had some nice food and drinks in the evening (the site seemed to be full of old people so we had the lush kitchen and lounge to ourselves!) played cards til 2am and then decided to get some sleep!

Checked into beaches hervey bay as had to stay there the night before fraser and just chilled, bought some new sunglasses and books and ate nachos!

... the majority of the time. Think she's bored of surfing already and is happy sleeping on the beach. We dropped the board off and grabbed a late lunch from the bakery. They love a good Pie out here of all different flavours and I'm trying to work my way through them all, twice. Its hard work being a cool surfer dude, so after munching on a chunky Beef and Gravy Pie (for all Pie Fans here's a great tip, Pie Sandwiches, 2 slices of bread or chunky roll whichever you prefer ...

What happened in 1770???

... flat featureless terrain with ploughed fields as far as the eye could see (sorry Kisby but its true). Apparently there's a beach near by so I'm hoping to try get some surfing in before we move to far north and the surfable waves disappear. Take easy and will write more tom I promise :)

ps we didn't have phone signal at Rainbow Beach and still don't have any here, so if anyone has tried texting we're not being rude.

Shelley Vs the Scooter.... Part 2

... aid us in looking like real hells angels. Simmo however, was pricking about wearing a pink jacket for a while, which made him look more like Rizzo than one of the Orange county hells angels. We got our instructions and hopped on a bike. Simmo was first to take off as he was classed as an experienced rider.. (Simmo - yeah that’s right biatches!) I meanwhile less experienced nervously awaited my turn to go and as it turned out I was last of about 30 people. I ...
