Als heute morgen der Wecker abging, war's eindeutig noch viel zu früh für mich (war gestern eeeetwas länger auf ;). Jedenfalls wurde ich dann aber nicht von der Schlummerfunktion, sondern durch mein wackelndes Bett wachgerüttelt. Bis ich ganz wach war, war's aber auch schon wieder vorbei. Ich glaub, das war ein 4,irgendwas Beben in der Nara-Gegend, also südlicher von mir aus. Aber zur Zeit dürft's da südlicher grad mehrere kleinere Erdbeben geben. Also nicht zum ...

... solemnly made our way to the dining room...

Our table was already waiting for us - a myriad of exotic, unfamiliar food graced various little bowls. The arrangement was a work of art mixing color, shape, and smell. The flame under the nabe pot simmered tofu, clear rice "spaghetti," and various vegetables. And of course, there was tea.

[CLICK, CLICK] I *HAD TO* take a few photos. We BOTH agreed.

"Hmmm, so what is this?..." I wondered.

... decided to head west. I’d seen what I came for, but according to my map, there was a hut on the west end of town where you could make a wish. So I started walking. Man, my knee was killing me! I don’t know what I’d done to it, but it was in agony. I could hardly walk, so I had to limp. I walked down some small side streets, past a few houses. Eventually, I came to what looked like a mountain highway. Where the hell was I!?

... had only be open for a few months and we were its FIRST foreign visitors. We were greeted by the very kind staff and the owners wife and quickly brought to our beautiful room. the best thing was we finally had an actual bed to sleep on (no more futons on the ground) and our first outdoor bath! ... on the map that showed a large series of Torii gates... the pictures will explain it all. The Golden temple was probably the most popular attraction in Kyoto. It's a temple that is completely covered in gold paint. Again, see the pictures. We did find enough time to see the Torii gates... which was a fantastic decision. It was an amazing sight to see.
